Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Hoboken, New Jersey and grew up in Hudson and Bergen County before settling in Sussex County. When I was a boy I listened to family members talk about the Italian, German, French, Irish and Native American (Mohawk) ancestry that runs through my blood. Growing up with no father and having a mother who supported five kids and worked three jobs was very tough on the whole family. I needed someone or something, I didn't know. I started hunting for snakes at the local cemeteries and found myself surrounded by tombstones that I really didn't pay attention too. Just about that time I saw a television series "Roots" by Alex Haley. I was amazed on how he traced his family all the way back to Africa, I was hooked! When I was in Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma someone told me about Geronimo's grave being on post, well I was excited and had to see it. I had served in the military for 8 years. When my father heard that I was in the Army he told my family that he needed to see me. It was a year and a half before Desert Storm. This meeting took place at his apartment in North Bergen and from that day on, I had my father's connection that I was missing my whole life. But life itself isn't fair and on the day I was supposed to see him in uniform, he suffered a major heart attack. That connection was broke forever and so I searched for someone or something once again to fill that void in my life. It took a couple of years but I had finally found that missing piece. It was genealogy and like a lightning bolt I was struck, big time. That lead me to, slowly but surley I now arrived to my Africa. I hold my dearest memories not only to humans but animals too. I had two loving cats in my life, Ginger and Kizzy.

LTC W.B. Loor
I have been researching the Ioor/Loor family history. I see a LTC Wallace B Loor listed as being buried at Springwood Cemetery. He served in the Civil War, 16th Regiment SC Vols. I contacted Springwood Cemetery to find out exactly where his grave is located and they said they have no record of his grave there. I do know his parents, Dr. William B and Ann Mathewes Ioor are buried there, but no record of him. Could you please find out if LTC Wallace Ioor/Loor is buried at Springwood. Researchers have been trying to locate his grave for some time. Thank you very much for your help.

Capt. John H Vanderveer
Hello Gregory,

I've been researching Capt. John H Vanderveer and I would like to thank you for adding photos of him to his findagrave profile! I was wondering if you knew anything about him. The profile listed he died in 1864 but under close examination of another photo I found of his gravestone it looks to me as if it says 1866. Do you happen to know his accurate death date and what wounds he suffered in battle? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Lt. Charles P. Lord

I am wondering if you would consider transferring Charles Lord to me. I have been researching his service and civilian life and I have considerable biographical information on him. I also have an original picture of him, the original of the reproduction shown on the memorial. My original is much clearer.

Your consideration of my request is truly appreciated. Thank you for maintaining his memorial....from a fellow Vet....Mike
