W. McGraw Hi Rick, I made all of the changes you put in. If the death date comes up as originally put, do another edit and I'll change it again. I did write to my friend and asked him if he would have a look the next time he's over that way. We'll see what happens. Keep up the good work. Irma
W. McGraw Hi Rick. Unfortunately, I live in Florida and I'm not able to go back to the cemetery. I have found many incorrect tombstones over the years so anything is possible. I will write to a friend who lives in the area and see if he will try rephotographing the stone, or at least if he can read what it says. He can also tell us if it's in the vicinity of the other stones. That will tell us a lot. I'll let you know. Irma
Thomas McCraw Hi Rick, Thanks for contacting me about Thomas L.R. McCraw Find A Grave Memorial. I believe that I was the one in error, I think that I have the families mixed up. I had that James Walker McCraw was Thomas' father instead of Samuel McCraw who is brother to James. I will rework this information. James Walker and Samuel McCraw and all their siblings are my 1st cousin 4X removed. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org I removed my memorials.
William M. Phillips Hello Rick, do you have a date of death on the William M. Phillips death certificate? And/or location? I would like to find out where he is buried. ( As you mentioned, birth date corresponds to William L. Phillips. Could be the same person.) Thanks. I am back in Texas. Hope you have a great New Year.
William L. Phillips William L. Phillips was born in 1860 in Calhoun County, Alabama, to john Abner Phillips and Polly (Pettit) Phillips. John Abner Phillips died of Typhoid Fever in the Civil war. Polly and William moved to Texas, around Comanche County, where her brother, John Pettit lived. I have two letters from William Phillips to my Great-grandfather James Wesley Phillips, back in Calhoun County, Alabama. William Phillips wound up having a big family, and I have found him several times in various census records in Texas. You are right. The last census record shows him in Coleman County, Texas. I have been to Polly's grave in Texas, but have been unable to locate any of William's descendants in Texas. Polly is buried near Pettit, Texas. The pettits, who lived in Calhoun County, Alabama, moved to Texas and became fairly well off. I am currently visiting in Alabama, and all my genealogy records are back in Texas, so am working from memory. Would love to find some of "Will's" descendants around Coleman or in Comanche County.
