Jim is a "retired" high school library media specialist. He is a former adjunct associate professor at Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, Mass., and a former reference librarian at a law school. Jim has written Lincoln Park Remembered, a history of a local amusement park.

Jim is also the Curator at the Wing Fort House Museum and Memorial History Center in East Sandwich, Massachusetts. The Fort House (1641) has been in the Wing family continuously since 1641.
