I am a decendant of the Dungan Clan formerly spelled Dongan, of Kildare, Limerick, Ireland.Most immigrated to the American Colonies in the early 1600s to escape religious persecution. Some of these descendents contributed greatly towards society during this time including Colonial Governor of New York (Amsterdam).Governors of Maryland including both the Bowie family which produced 2 Maryland Governors & 2 cities of Bowie, & Odenton Maryland. The Calvert family of Lord Baltimore and multiple Barons whose family coat of arms is Maryland state flag. Other namesake towns include Linthicum which is where the BWI airport is located. Gaithersburg named after relative Ben Gaither.The Linthicum family which are my first cousins used to own most of land in Maryland including several historical homes, landmarks and building including Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown. The Beall family which owned all land in Georgetown also married into Linthicums connecting that lineage. It was common for one child of a successful and wealthy prominent family to marry into another. I will be creating and updating memorials and also contributing on other individuals.
