Bio

"I walk through a damp graveyard hoping that there will be a headstone for the stranger I am looking for. I am on a mission to photograph the marker at the request of a stranger in search for his or her kindred dead. Why? Perhaps this stranger is the one who in paying forward what I have done will touch the stranger who will fill my request for help in finding my kindred dead. And I do it because I know it is important to someone else who may never have a chance to travel here to see for his or herself." (Borrowed)

I grew up in Waterloo, IA and graduated from East High in 1956. My Sorensen, Jensen and Rasmussen Danish ancestors settled in the area in the 1890's. Currently I'm trying to complete some family genealogy for as many ancestors as possible.

There are also Wetzsteins, Strandemos, Halvorsons, Marlings and Melicks in our family trees from Iowa, Minnesota & Illinois mostly.(Danes, Norwegians and Germans )The Marlings and Melicks can be traced back to the 1700's in the eastern U.S.

Any help with these family branches will be greatly appreciated. Also , please send corrections for any errors noted or requests for removal/transfers. To add a bio please request a transfer. To transfer an entry to yourself please click the 'suggest a correction' item above the memorial when viewing the person you would like to have transferred.

The flowers I add are mostly photos of Marilyn's blooms from our yard.

Evergreen Memorial project is complete(5,277) on Aug 18,2013. As of Nov 2012 I no longer edge the stones, just remove enough of the growth and leaves to read the names and dates. Bios are added for deaths after 2002.

New addition of St Mary's in N St Paul has been completed during our mild Dec weather of 2011.
(640 entries)

Lakeview (adjacent to Evergreen in Mahtomedi)(2100+)99% completed June 3, 2012.

I will no longer randomly search cemeteries that refuse to provide locations to Findagrave members. Locations must be provided by the requestor. This now includes Forest Lawn in Maplewood and likely St Johns in Little Canada. Please call or visit the cemetery office to get a location.

Thanks
