Bio and Links
Bio Photo My kids think going to cemeteries is what everyone does on vacation. I am a native Pennsylvanian, but have lived in Georgia for over 28 years, minus three years overseas.

Many of the memorials I have created are NOT my family members, but after photographing, researching, and posting, they do begin to feel like family. I have no ancestors locally. Therefore, I have had to depend upon the kindness of volunteers living elsewhere to create memorials or take photos for me. In return, I try to take as many photos as I can locally to post to non-family memorials, hoping to "pay it forward." If I have taken a photograph you would like to use for your personal, private, off-line use, let me know, and I'd be happy to send you one of a larger resolution.

I prefer to limit transfers to established, regular contributors to Find a Grave who demonstrate an understanding of the FAQs and purpose of the site. (Don't mean for that to sound judgmental. I am just hoping to avoid potential problems.) Please use the SAC function (edit button on memorial) to request transfers, and be sure to let me know specifically how you are related. If you are brand new here, welcome! Folks come and go often, and I like to make sure you're going to stick around and contribute regularly before I transfer. You may want to read the "help with Find a Grave" section to understand the purpose of the site.

Folks mainly interested in genealogy might well be happier having someone more active to manage the memorials, and use other more-suited sites to build trees. That "virtual cemetery" feature is also useful in sorting out the branches of your tree.

I volunteer at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, and am working on photo-documenting the whole cemetery. At this point, I prefer not to transfer memorials for this cemetery (other than mandatory transfers, of course) because my research is ongoing. In the meantime, please feel free to send me as much additional info as you wish via the edit button on the memorial.

Some duplicates
Hi there. I just noticed that you have some duplicates of your memorials, namely, for Norwood Sisson, Robert Sisson, Nellie Sisson and Lee Sisson. It makes it look as if their parents had 11 kids when they really only had 7. I thought you'd like to know.

RE: Need your help
Hey Linda, The closest name I could find was J. Spence Company B 54th Virginia Infantry on page 60 of the "Book". According to it, he died at Fairground Hospital number 2 November 11,1863. The 54th Virginia fought in and around Atlanta including Chickamauga. It was attached to the Army of Tennessee in which General John C. Breckenridge was a commander. However, I can't find where the 54th was under his direct command. I found John H., Joshua C., Jeremiah and Johnson M. Spence on a roster of the 54th. The two latter survived the war and have memorials on Findagrave. I guess I would list him as Spence. His first name and service may be one of those pesky mysteries I can't seem to avoid. Thanks, Hutch.

RE: Ferree's in Chestnut Level Cemetery
There are dozens of other memorials placed in the old cemetery that belong in the new cemetery. It is really slowing me down cross-checking and many of the creators never respond. I know how easy it would be to make that mistake as newspaper obituaries and family histories simply state Chestnut Level Presbyterian Cemetery.

If you are related to these Ferree's you are welcome to post the pictures wherever you wish.

Thanks again.

Ferree's in Chestnut Level Cemetery
Thank-you for your super quick response in changing the cemeteries for the Ferree's in Chestnut Level Cemetery. I think that you will be receiving a few more. I photographed the entire cemetery. I will send corrections for the rest when I come to them.

Regards,
Tom Donahue

Linda, Someone wrote to me - the picture you added to this memorial is incorrect. Just to let you know so you can add correct one. Thanks.

re: Anna FREDERICK WITTMAN
Thanks for the heads-up Linda. I recycled the memorial for a grave in section M, which I am currently working. Emery

Anna
Raimundo de Ovies
This man was very well known in Georgia. He was married to a DuBose, niece of William Porcher DuBose for whom I sent you links to his parents. Dean Raimundo de Oives died in 1962. It is driving me *mad* to find where he and his wife Elizabeth Egleston Dubose de Oives are buried. Do you have access to the archived obits in the Atlanta papers that might say where they are buried? I would like to do their memorials myself, if only-if only!! I could find out where they are buried.
