I love Oakland Cemetery, in Yonkers, New York. The beauty, peace and serenity that can be found here is incredible. I came in for a ride and have never been able to stay away.

Wildlife and bird watching is incredible:

Deer, Turkey, Coyote, rabbit, and many, many species of birds, especially the Great Hawk!!

If you are a history "nut" like myself you will love the many historical markers related to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

A Poem By Vito Tomanelli, When you are gone.

On the day I die will you think back and remember?

How many times will you think about the things we did, the places we went and the stuff I liked to do? How many videos of us are stored in your mind?

Will you cry with anger that all is lost and all is gone, that the things we shared will never be again?

Will you visit me, will you leave me to rest alone? Will you bring me a flower or a feather, will you sit near my grave? Will you make sure that the grass is cut and the weeds are cleared away from my tombstone?

Will they remember me?

When you pass away and time moves forward, who will visit me? Who will come to whisper passionate prayers or thoughts from the day?

Will I lie here alone? Who will remember me? Will I be alone, now and then forever forgotten?

When my headstone crumbles, who will replace it? Will they keep peace over my grave, or will I be forgotten like time?

Memories blown away in the wind, never to be known, too unknown to be forgotten, no one will ever remember?
