Bio and Links
Bio Photo I stumbled across this site over ten years ago, made a few entries, and wandered off. I returned after three years and realized it was a wonderful opportunity to do something meaningful, for both the dead and the living.

I am currently working on recording cemeteries in my home area, as well as those in Blair Co, Pa., my area of interest. My particular passion is recording stones that are 'trying hard to soon become unreadable'.

I am always thrilled when I can take an almost unreadable or broken tombstone, and, with a little research, successfully identify the person. Some have taken me years, but the harder the chase, the more satisfying the victory, especially knowing that someone out there may be searching for that elusive ancestor or relative...

I try to put as much application into stranger's graves as I would those of my own family, as I consider this a labor of love.

If anyone is helped by my efforts and wants to say thank-you, considering leaving a flower for my sponsored memorials. All tokens are appreciated.

I am a "no-dispositions-unknown" contributor.

......................................

Please note - I try to act on SACs within 72 hours. If I do not respond within a week, feel free to resend; I may have missed it. I will not make links, however, to burial unknowns.

In the past I have been very liberal with transfers, including many out-of-guidelines transfers. I loved turning memorials over to family.

Sadly however, having been 'burned' a number of times recently, I am rethinking that policy. Most of the memorials I have happily transferred over have had not one iota of additional information added by the transferee, aside from links, often times to 'burial unknowns.' When things ARE added, they are frequently cut and paste entries from Ancestry or FamilySearch indices, making the memorial unattractive and about about as personable as a baseball score card. Often too, the transferees get bored and wander away from the site, abandoning their memorials and when I find new info to add they never reply.

If you request an out-of-guidelines transfer, I will review your current memorials to see if you are good stewards of them, and base my decision on that. I am very happy to add additional information to 'flesh-out' existing memorials, and if you work with me on that I may later reconsider a transfer that I did not initially grant.

Gretta Callahan
Hi Zella,

got photo for Gretta Mae today - her husband James is on headstone as well. I went ahead and created memorial for him, but I will transfer to you if you want.
There were no other Callahans in the immediate area that I could see, but... there are about 25 other Callahans listed in Philipsburg. I do not know which of these are children or directly related. You can send me a direct e-mail with a list of names so we identify and get photos (if possible).

Thx,
Rick

Bendigo Cemetery Robert Hampton
Hi Zella, you posted a grave photo for Robert Hampton, buried in the Bendigo Cemetery, died 1915.
This grave was for Blanche & William Hampton, not Robert. I have just joined 'Findagrave' and I am not sure what is the best way to let you know about this. I am not related to either but have dune work in the cemetery as a volunteer.
Regards Ian

Elizabeth Gibson Keasey
Memorial #12656718

On the memorial you created for Elizabeth you state: "Aged 74 years. Widow of Joseph Keasey of Williamsport. Mother of William H., John M. and Winfield Keasey, Margaret Curry and Hannah Eckard."

What's the source for this information? I'm trying to determine her husband's ancestry.

RE: Charles T. Swaney Memorial# 12773760
Thanks, Zella. Here is a link to the 1860 Census on Ancestry.com. Both he & Elizabeth are listed as well as their 9 kids!
He is listed as "Chas. Sweeney" according to the transcription, but on the census form it looks more like the correct "a" instead of an "ee".

RE: Charles T Swaney
Since we don't know if he was born in Ireland or Pennsylvania much less the county or town, I'd suggest changing the birthplace to "Unknown" so it doesn't mislead others.

Charles T. Swaney Memorial# 12773760
Zella, Charles is my Great-Great-Grandfather so thank you for the photo of his headstone. I'd like to know from where the birth data was found, as it is internally conflicting.

County Clare is in the Province of Munster and is on the west side of Ireland abutting the Atlantic Ocean, while Dublin is in the Province of Leinster on the east side of Ireland abutting the Irish Sea.

Grandpa Charles couldn't have been born in both! I've also been told that he was born in Pennsylvania so that is another thing that I need to clarify.
