Hello. I live in Grand Blanc, MI. Found this site by accident. I worked for years at a local cemetery and at a local funeral home now I work in the office at Michigan Battery Equipment Co. Find all of this fascinating. Hope to find more time to input data. I think this is great way to spend extra time (when I retire, if ever).
PLEASE LEAVE TRIBUTE FOR MY BELOVED AUNT ELAINE E. MATTAR.............THANKS!
RE: Sweet family Thanks again, always nice to learn about a family's history. The Cvetic brothers worked in the copper mines in Calumet MI. After my grandpa was hurt in a mine cave-in, my grandma made him move to the Chicago area where he worked for many years as a chauffeur for the Amer Express Delivery Co. I just turned 67, am retired and enjoying it.
PS-Although, not related to my Sweet family, here's a website about a Herb & Dee Sweet http://www.acorn-farm.com/id1.html you might find interesting. I visited their "Acorn Acres Country Store" awhile ago, and when I went to pay, they saw that we shared the same last name and showed me a 200~300 page book loaded with their family bios. Maybe you are related to them somehow.
Sweet Family Thanks for the info about your Joseph & Monica Sweet. I doubt that we are related. My Grandfather, Joseph, and his sibs; John, Matt, and Ann (Gasparovich) lived in Calumet MI after coming from Lukovdol, Croatia (1890's). Their last name was Cvetic, and their parents were Pavao Cvetic + Mara (Grguric). At various times they used Cvetich, Svetich, Svetish, Swetich, Swetish, and who knows what else. My grandfather legally his name, in 1920's Chicago, to Sweet. Have a Happy New Year and stay well. Jim
Mary Getzen Sweet Thanks for adding your flower to my grandma's Find A Grave plot, Mary Getzen Sweet, memorial# 68595397. That was very nice of you. You did it in 2012, but I didn't notice until today. Are you in some way related to my family? Please check my Find A Grave bio. I list several family names that am related to. Jim Sweet 12-31-2013
