Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing family Geneaology for about twelve years. I began with oral family history. My siblings and I have continued to move forward. I am the family researcher, that is my role. I have collected documents onsite and online. Documents which either support or reject the family stories. What fun, putting the pieces of the puzzle together. I have made connection with several family members while searching also.

I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. many family members, classmates,co-workers and friends are buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.

Our Shepherd family tradition began in 1944. Both immediate and extended family members go to Glendale on Memorial Day to honor our loved ones.

A few weeks ago, a cousin e-mailed me a link which led me to Findagrave website. I opened the link and found posted a photo of the Cemetery, and the tombstone of my maternal g-grandmother Mary (Lindsey)Johnson, with g-mother Mamie Johnson and grandfather William George Finley. Old City Cemetery, now Crown Hill, Boonville, Mo. G-randmother Mary Lindey's brother Wilbert, Civil War Veteran, Mo, Crown Hill, Cemetery

It was nice to see on Findgrave website. I am now a member of Findagrave.

Mary L. Johnson 97199105
Hi, wanted to let you know that I have left a request with FindAGrave to do some editing on the cemetery, "Boonville City cemetery." Unfortunately, someone created the Boonville City Cemetery and this cemetery is actually Sunset Hills. Because they are one in the same cemetery, folks are duplicating memorials. That has happened with your Mary L. Johnson memorial. There was already an active memorial for her in Sunset that is older. Needed to let you know so you could deal with the duplicate memorial and avoid future confusion. Let me know if I can be of further help. Thanks! Whitney, Boonville, MO

RE: Hello Kathy
Hi, again, Lucy. I am so sorry for the confusion. I see where you contacted me on Sept 1 regarding your maternal grandparents' in Boonville & I responded with a Welcome! and offer to transfer mgt or do links for you. I work full time and do my family tree & Find A Grave as a part time hobby. I do photo requests as time permits, but I don't do research for others. Perhaps you have me confused with someone else? I don't see a Crown Hill/Crowen Hill Cemetery listed in Boonville. Again, I did not mean to mislead. Take Care. Kathy

Coleman relatives
Hi Lucy,

Thank you for taking the time to send me a reply back. I was in Chicago back in 2008 for a Coleman/Pool Family Reunion and I received a copy of a photo of Major Coleman (1909 - 1991). It is my understanding that his son Major Jr lives in the Bahamas with his wife. My 4th cousin Phyllis Heard was the host of that reunion. She has passed on now. However, we had kinfolk representing at least three Coleman descendant lines. If my memory serves me correctly Major was the son of Robert and Rosie. Phyllis Heard was a descendant of Rev Nelson Coleman, and my direct descendant was John Thomas Coleman. They all were the sons of Cornelius Coleman Sr. Civil War Veteran. I have photos of most of the Coleman Brothers. I sure wish I could find a relative that has a photo of Cornelius Coleman Sr. Do you know anyone? Well again, those are beautiful photos of your relatives on this website.

Relative in Common
Hi there I really enjoyed reading your relatives bios. I am related to the Coleman's in which one of your relatives was married to Major Coleman. I just wanted to say hello. I have been doing family history research for close to 15 years now.

Boonville Finleys
Hi, Lucy :) Thanks for your kind note. Welcome to FindAGrave! I would be happy to transfer your family members to you for management, if you like. If not, if you could let me know the relationships (husband, wife, etc), I will link them. Thanks and take care. Kathy

RE: Thank You
Yes, the amazon links get automatically to memorials we have flagged as 'famous'. Your uncle looks like a terrific man who served his country for many years (and we thank him for that!), but he doesn't really qualify by our rules as 'famous'. So, I reviewed it and now the amazon links are no longer there.

Thanks and welcome to Find A Grave,
Jim
