Bio and Links
Bio Photo We work as a team: Russian-Danish family living in London. Having just completed a few years in the Middle East, we are moving to our next adventure in China. County-keepers for England. Being foreigners in the countries we live in, we are very interested in all Russians and Danes who found their last resting place away from their home countries. We will be grateful for any comments, advice and links to memorials. Thanks to this wonderful website we have found many friends all over the world and the amount of mails we receive increase all the time. We appreciate all the mails and ALWAYS reply but sometimes it takes longer than we would like to.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We prefer to get your questions and corrections through e-mail (use the EDIT tab in the memorial). Please include your own e-mail in case we need to write back to you.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!juliakeld @

Tadeusz Krieger

I'm very interested where you got the 2nd picture of Tadeusz Krieger from (where he is being given a medal/ribbon. He was my grandad and none of us in the family have ever seen that picture, so i am curious :-)

You added photos to memorial 8867 (Hugh de Courtenay). Is the grave photo of Hugh and his wife's grave or is it a general photo for the cathedral grounds? Have to ask as there is notation.

RE: Benjamin Herschel Babbage
Hi Julia & Keld
The Cemetery where the Babbages are buried is in South Australia which is another state of Australia. There doesn't appear to be a cemetery generated in find a grave for this cemetery on South Rd so you might like to start one. Then you may like to put the Babbages in there and remove them from St Mary's Magdelene here in Sydney NSW
There is approx. 1500 kms between here and South Australia
Kind Regards

RE: Benjamin Herschel Babbage
Hi, I have just rechecked the Church burial and cremation records and there doesn't seem to be any reference to Babbage there. My colleague and I are in the middle of a project to digitise this Church Cemetery. All the cremation wall plaques have been photographed and over half of the headstones so far. It is fair to say that there are a number of headstones that are unreadable or very difficult to read, most have been matched with Church records. You say you have seen the headstone inscribed with the name Babbage on the internet? There is another cemetery 1km down the Rd called St Marys General Cemetery. Is it possible the Babbages are in there?
Kind Regards

RE: Liverpool Cathedral
Thank you for your reply.

I have contacted Peter Drysdale who was responsible for the inclusion of the photo. He has told me that for some reason it was included twice (as you said). He has also given me more information.

St Giles, Colchester, Essex, England
Hello Julia & Keld,

One of my ancestors was buried in St. Giles, Colchester, Essex, England. I am not sure if it is the same place as you have recorded Sir James Buchanan (1849-1935) Find A Grave 74628412.

My ancestor is John Lucas 1606-1671 who was interned at St Giles, Colchester, Essex, England, I believe the brother of Charles Lucas 1612/13-1648 who was executed for involvement in 1648 siege of Colchester.

I am attempting to record John Lucas on Find a Grave, but I have been stung before, not understanding ancient burial places in England, so I am hoping to tap your vast knowledge and properly understand if this would be the same burial site as James Buchanan.

Are Chichester and Colchester one and the same?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Re:Reginald Renouf Johnston
Thank you for your message in which you suggested that the grave should be listed as a cenotaph.

However, while I understand your reason as Reginald Renouf Johnston is not buried in the grave (his body was not recovered), I do not consider it should be classified as a cenotaph, as there are multiple members of Reginald's family who *are* buried in that plot. I therefore consider it a family grave with a memorial to Reginald on it, not a cenotaph.

Thank you for your interest,

Robert Abney
Do you think it possible to add the photo of Sir Thomas Abney that currently hangs in the Hall of Mayors?
