|Have a background in teaching, journalism, system design, and most recently library and information science. On the side I write reviews and am pretty good at it. Considered smart but I see it as nerdy or just quirky.|
I have always liked cemeteries and have always gotten a kick out of what they hide. I'm lucky that my husband and friends put up with me and all the cemetery trips. I have gotten pretty efficient at cyber searching which often renders results in minutes instead of weeks or months. Gift or curse? Not sure.
Recent favorite cemetery is almost anything on either coast.
On other fronts, had spent the past couple of years reading everything on Richard III's bones. I figured it was my fascination with cemeteries and mysteries. A recent DNA test revealed that Richard and I share the same mtl haplogroup. Now this is freaking me out. I am now one of his millions of genetic relatives.
That's All Folks.

What an amazing family history! Few other things, if you don't mind sharing.
So Rosa Dashevsky never came to the U.S.? She had Lilly out of wedlock?
Any idea who Nathan Poberesky was? (Lived at same address as Shapsie for a bit).
Shapsie was married once in Ukraine before Tuba. Had a son Pete Pober by 1st wife.
Any more clues on the Rabbi Gersh Dashevsky?
Also I saw a record listing TUBA as in trouble for bigamy. Maybe it was her filing some complaint against Shapsie. But it an alias for her as Tanya Siegel.
BTW -- my Poberesky side were also active radicals. My 2x-great, grandmother Katia Poberesky Tsibulevsky (Siebel) was one of the six speakers at the very first anti-conscription rallies against WWI. Friends with Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman. Her daughter dated Alexander Gumberg for years (I have 20 of his letters to her) -- he was Soviet spy and Trotsky's roommate for a bit. etc etc.
There was a Dashevsky (Pinhus Dashevsky) was tried to assassinate a journalist who had instigated the huge 1903 pogrom in Ukraine. Could be a relative of yours and/or mine.

cool details! Send along others you find. I'm looking for Tuba Dashevsky's rabbi father and sisters Rachel and Rosa now....
|Ray Cannata||RE: Benjamin Gardner|
I knew about your husbands (older?) brothers Arthur and William, but didn't know about Tom.
I love to get a copy of the great-grandfather DASHEVSKY.
Anything you have on DASHEVSKYs or Sam/Shapsie POBERESKY (and his father Avraham Meir) I'd be interested in.
Do you have cousins who have researched more of these lines? Anyone do the AncestryDNA yet?
And so your husband's dad was a brother of Benjamin? Which one? Must have been Morris/George, right?
|Ray Cannata||RE: Benjamin Powers|
Hi Gail, I havent yet found how Benjamin is related to my POBERESKYs. His grandfather Avraham (and dad Shapsie) were from the same area of the Ukraine as mine. Benjamin's mother was a DASHEVSKY and my 3x-great grandmother was a DASHEVSKY who married a POBERESKY too. Avraham was a recurring name in my POBER lines..... I've been interested to learn more about Benjamin. He was a noted Communist and labor activists and was involved in the Spanish Civil War. Interesting that he changes his name so radically to GARDNER. Most other POBERESKy (POBEREZHSKY) just went to POBER here... My POBERs were all Communists as well. If you have any more info on that side of the POBERESKY tree please send along to me and maybe we can find the connection.

The burial of Linda Arvidson (Mrs. David Wark Griffith) figures as unknown in her memorial. However, I've seen an image of her grave.
What's the cemetery Linda is buried in?
Do you know where he is buried. I saw your grave photo on his page. Thank you.

No bother at all. Thanks for your interest in my memorials.
I saw your grave photos for Linda and I was wondering where she was buried?
