Carla, I think I have it corrected now. If not, let me know. Thanks, Fred
|Jeanine Kastner||RE: Flowers for Ellis Bearden|
Oh my goodness! Now that I know who you are...in actuality, Ellis was my mother's long-time boyfriend after my father died in 1959! (I was only three and a half years old.) We are good friends with Edith (Bearden) Lederhause of McCoy, CO who is Ellis' niece. Edith's father's (Raymond Bearden) sister-in-law, Mary (Fenno) Thomas built our store and post office that I said my mother had owned and operated from 1957 to 1966 in Edwards, CO - just fifteen miles from Vail, and not far from Ellis' ranch - which is, now, www.bearcatstables.com! Since he has died, his ranch is, now, a dude ranch, and owned by Cordillera. I rode Ellis' horses as a little kid! I have as many pictures of Ellis in my house as of my father.
As I said, you can find my mother, Thelma Ding, in findagrave under Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia, KS that's within Lyon County. She passed away this last May. (Our name Ding is a German name - not Chinese.)
You can find me in Facebook as Jeanine Kastner of Topeka, KS.
ONE MORE THING! My husband travels the Midwest with his job as a private investigator on worker's compensation cases, and today - of all places! - he's in Clairemore, OK! Ellis claimed that's where he was born in 1913, and from where he and his family traveled to Edwards six years later! He gave me a trunk that they had taken with them. I know Enid is nearby.
I'm going to have to share all of this with Edith! I wish you the very best!

I saw where you left "flowers" for Ellis Bearden in findagrave.com. Are you related to Esther Klatt? My mother, Thelma Ding, was a friend of Ellis Bearden. She owned and operated the Edwards Store and Post Office near Vail from 1957 to 1966. You can find her in findagrave.com in Memorial Lawn Cemetery within the town of Emporia within the county of Lyon within the state of Kansas. She passed away just this last May.

Fred was able to answer my questions and provided me with a lot of new information. It's always nice to meet a relative! How do you tie into the Rose family? I'm the ggg-grandaughter of Moses Rose, who fought in the Civil War.

I'm not personally able to get a photo for you but I have a friend who goes to cemeteries to take photos and I'll ask her if she can try to find this marker and photograph it for you. I'll let you know what she says. Thank you for your kind message, have a wonderful day!
You don't need to remove yours, I'll remove mine, you have more information and pictures than I do...he should be with family. Thanks for adding more to the sites...happy hunting. Pauline

Thank you for your kind words. That's precisely the experience I hope to promote with the memorials I manage.--Antonio
