I live in the southern mountains of North Carolina. I am a graduate of Western Carolina University with a BS degree in Education. I worked for many years as a teacher at Andrews Elementary School, teaching second, third, and fifth grades. During that time, I also taught Effective Teacher Training with my friend and colleague, Laura Postell. ETT trained substitute teachers how to be more effective in the classroom.

I retired in 2003 and went almost immediately to work at the local community college in the College and Career Readiness department, teaching GED and adult basic skills, as well as ESL. I "re-retired" in 2018 right after my granddaughter Alexis graduated from Appalachian State University.

I love animals, especially cats, doing genealogical research, gardening, cooking, reading, and collecting vintage children's books. I have owned an ALL ACCESS account at Ancestry since 2013 and it has been invaluable in helping me to research our relatives on my husband's paternal side. I especially enjoy the Fold3 access.
