Bio

While descended from three railroad men, my father, grandfather, & G-Grandfather, I served 4 years in the Navy during the Vietnam War, after graduating with a B.S. in Industrial Technology from Miss. State University. Was stationed with NATO, just outside Oslo, Norway, in Kolsas, Norway working at a communications complex. After mustering out in 1974, I went to work in the Automotive Aftermarket with an automotive parts manufacturer as a Sales & Marketing Representative for almost 20 years, then with a local Automotive Aftermarket Distributor for 15 years, then retired.

My Aunt Juanita Reed in Oklahoma was an inspiration to me when she researched the Reed side of my family, who resided in Warrick Co., IN and Barry Co., Missouri, where most of my father's descendants also ended up from Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY.

I began assembling information on my families after I retired, then joined Ancestry.com, and proceeded with research into my Akin, Reed, Greer, and Stab immediate and extended families.

My Stab side of the family immigrated in 1892 to Wheeling, WV from Hottweiler, Germany / Hottviller, France, where their descendants lived for over 300 years. I have this part of my family fully documented on Ancestry.com.

If you are on Ancestry.com, I can be found with the Robert Carl Akin Family Tree.

I welcome contacts and am open with any information, photos, or documents I may have, regarding my research.

I am also the Adminstrator of the AKIN & AITKEN Project at FTDNA in additon to the REED project at FTDNA, both my paternal & maternal Families.

If you would like to know how to prove your family through paternal Y-DNA to either the Akin or Reed Family, I would be more than happy to help you along that path. Just message me.
