Bio

I live in Mason, OH. I along with my wife are researching the following surnames:

Adams, I am a decendent of John Adams who as a Pilgrim immigrated to Plymouth Colony on the second ship to New England, The Ship "Fane" in 1621.

Brewster, I am a descendent of Mayflower Passenger William Brewster and his wife Mary, through the Calkins/Shaw Lineage.

Crandall (from MD, OH, and WV), I am a decendent of Thomas B. Crandall. Thomas and his wife Elizabeth migrated to Ohio around 1848 and then to WV around 1880. Thomas and Elizabeth had 12 children and they settled in Ohio and Western WV. If you trace back our ancestors you will find the earliest Crandall in America in our Maryland lineage is Thomas and Susanaa Crandall who were first documented in Maryland in the 1670s.

Frost, I am a decendent of Edmund Frost. Edmund, a Putitan and one of the "First Comers" immigrated to New England on the ship "Defense" in 1635 and settled in Cambridge Massachusetts. Edmund was instumental in the founding of Harvard University.

Gray (from Henry and Stewart county's TN,) My wife is a decendent of The Gray's of Lanarkshire, Scotland who immigrated to the US, where she is connected with her third Great Grandfather David Gray of NC and his son James Gray of TN who both migrated to TN in 1810. James Gray was a Captain in the War of 1812 and was instrumental in the Battle of New Orleans.

Nance from VA, NC, SC, and Benton County TN. My wife is a decedent of Peter Nance of Virginia. Peter's decendents include Peter Sanford Nance who enlisted in the 5th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry, CSA.

Plantz - I am a decendent of German immigrant Leonard Plantz and his Revolutionary War Patriot son Christian Plants of PA. Christian's son my Third Great Grandfather Jacob "The Pioneer" Plants migrated to WV @ 1850. His son my Second Great Grandfather Sgt. John Plants served 3 years with the 13th WV Infantry and was wounded at the battle of Cedar Creek, VA.

Shaw, I am the descendent of Levi Shaw born in Enfield in 1793. I am currently working on proving my Shaw lineage through several possibilities. Levi's parents are Daniel and Eunice Shaw. The problem is there were as few as 3 Daniel and Eunice's that could be Levi's parents. - The work/fun continues...

Skiffington (from Ohio/Michigan), My wife is a decendent of Irish immagrant William Skiffington of Gallipolis,Ohio.

Stone, I am a decendent of Revolutionary War Patriot Samuel Stone of Mass. His grandson, my Third Great Grandfather Forbes Stone enlisted in Company B, 27th Infantry Regiment Massachusetts and served for 3 years. If you follow our Stone ancestors back to 1600's you will see that the immigrant ancestor is probably Nicholas Stone who came from England. He is buried in Copp's Hill Cemetery in Boston.

VanSkoy, I am the Second Great Grandson of GAR Veteran Sgt. John VanSkoy Jr. of Madison County, OH. He served 3 years in the Company B, 1st Ohio Heavy Artillery.
