Bio

Aside from being a direct descendant of Mayflower Pilgrims Doty, Hopkins and Winslow, I also descend from several notable ancestors, including:

* Simon Hoyt (1590-1657) emigrated to America in 1629 and one of the founders of Charlestown, Massachusetts. He is my 11th great-grandfather via Harriet "Hattie" Isabella Hoyt (1846-1925), my 3rd great-grandmother.

* Lt. John Samborn(e) (1620-1692) emigrated to America in 1632 with his grandfather, Stephen Bachiler (1561-1656), one of the first settlers of Hampton, New Hampshire. John is my 8th great-grandfather via Ruth Blanchard Sanborn (1911-2000), my maternal grandmother. The "Sanborn" family name is the source for Sanbornton, New Hampshire.

* Anthony Peirce (1609-1678) emigrated to America in 1633 from England became an admitted Freeman in 1634. He is my 10th great-grandfather via Bertha Elizabeth Peirce (1890-1920), my great-grandmother.

* James Cutler (1606-1694), who in 1634 landed at Watertown, Colony of Massachusetts, North America. He is my 10th great-grandfather via Lucy Jane Cutler (1866-1956), my 2nd great-grandmother.

* Thomas Paine (1613-1706) arrived to America in 1635. He is my 9th great-grandfather via Elizabeth Sanford Paine (1866-1897), my 2nd great-grandmother. Thomas Paine married Mary Snow (1630-1704), the granddaughter of Pilgrim Stephen Hopkins. Thomas was well-known for building windmills in Barnstable, Yarmouth and Truro, and Plymouth, Massachusetts.

* Deacon Samuel Chapin (1598-1675) emigrated to America in 1638 and is one of the founders of Springfield, Massachusetts in 1641. He is my 11th great-grandfather via Hannah Adeline Chapin (1821-1892), my 4th great-grandmother.

* John Putnam (1579-1662) emigrated to America in 1641 and settled in Salem, MA. He is my 10th great-grandfather via Maria Putnam (1802-1885), my 4th great-grandmother.

* Lieut. Joseph Kellogg (1626-1707) emigrated to America prior to 1653 and became an early proprietor of Hadley, MA. He is my 9th great-grandfather via Phyllis Kellogg (1911-1983), my paternal grandmother.

* Evert "Terwilliger" Dircksen (1630-1711) emigrated to America in 1663 from Amsterdam and settled in Ulster County, New York where a large majority of Terwilligers remain to this day. He is my 9th great-grandfather via Mabel Terwilliger (1883-1936), my great-grandmother.

As I continue researching my family tree the "Find A Grave" web site has been an invaluable source of information. And because my hobbies include photography and genealogy, I am gladly volunteering my efforts to try and photograph gravestones in my area.
