FAVORITE EPITAPH, as printed in a New England newspaper on Nov. 12, 1800...

To the Pyehouse memory of Nell Batchellor, an Oxford Pyewoman.
Here deep in the dust,
The mouldy old crust
Of Nell Batchellor lately was shoven;
Who skill'd in the arts
Of Pies, Puddings and Tarts,
And knew ev'ry use of the Oven.
When she liv'd long enough,
She made her last Puff,
A puff by her husband much prais'd;
Now here she doth lie,
And makes a dirt pie,
In hopes that her crust will be rais'd.
