Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello everyone.

I came across this website and decided it was a nice way to honor forever those loved ones who have crossed my path of life at some time whether family, friends, co-workers or their families. I have also included quite a bit of information on my family (Rake/Raike & McCane) as it becomes available for genealogy purposes.

If by adding any of your loved ones I have overstepped my bounds or upset you that is not my intent. If you do not like what I have done please let me know and I can delete the information.

Please use the edit button for sending any requests for corrections or transfer.

If you have other loved ones you would like for me to add just send me their information and I will be happy to do so for you.

Take care....

Greg

This comment below isn't mine but I saw how true it was within a short time of being on Find A Grave. I copied this to share from another member's site:

I think it is really a shame what findagrave has evolved into. What started as a noble way to link people with graves of loved ones they could never hope to see, and with the generations that had preceded them, has turned into a game for some.

Memorials have turned into a kind of "trading card", a competition of who can own the most memorials and post the highest numbers. What has been forgotten by many is that these are people, loved in life and death, not a commodity to be traded or owned.

My apologies to those that have pure motives. I hope there are more of us than there are of them.

If you do use my photos, I appreciate a note crediting me with the photo if you can. If not, no big deal. The whole purpose of posting photos is to breathe life back to the deceased.

Ethel Frances (Carpenter) Gansert #60950444
Hi Greg: Ethel is buried with her husband at Orange North Cemetery (#20378429 & #26917024, respectively). The unknown burial #60950444 should be deleted. Thanks.

"Numbers" People
Hi Greg. I totally agree with you regarding what I call the "numbers" people. They have abused what was a good idea at the time. Most of them are entering mass quantities of junk memorials and are concerned only with how many memorials they create. A good many of the memorials have very limited information and none of the individuals are linked to their loved ones. One woman has worked from a list she acquired for Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. I do genealogical research in the area and have found that about half of her memorials are duplicates. Judging from the few pictures she has taken, she must live in Colorado. But I'm pretty sure she doesn't even live in Indianapolis, let alone Indiana, and has never even stepped foot in Washington Park. I think this is very disrespectful to those people for whom she has created memorials. These people usually have a very long list of restrictions on their bios and are not usually pleasant to deal with. There are some people who feel they have to abuse the system (for lack of a better term) and this woman appears to be one of them. It's really too bad.

Ruby M Rake #81282118
Good Afternoon Greg,
I found that Rita Osborne (member #47817349) also has a memorial for Ruby Margaret Rake (Her memorial #133978705). She shows both Ruby and her husband Charles Edward Rake Sr (Your # 81252324, her ## 133978702)as buried in:

Rose Hills Memorial Park
Whittier
Los Angeles County
California, USA

Each of you have information that the other one lacks on their site.

Hope this is helpful.

RE: Robert L Wilder & Nolan Wilder
Your hunch is correct: Robert and Nolan are brothers. According to Nolan's obituary, he was preceded in death by five brothers, although I've only been able to find four of them: Frances, Robert, Sylvia and Warren. I've suggested an edit to Robert's memorial to add his parents. I don't know where Frances and Sylvia are buried. Let me know if you want more information.

Robert L Wilder
Thank you for posting the bowling team photo and funeral card to the memorial of Robert Wilder. He is a distant relative I never knew, but I enjoyed seeing these and added them to my Ancestry.com tree with an acknowledgement to you. Regards, Charlie

RE: Henrich Caspar Racke # 66914227
Hi Greg,
Nice to hear from you again. Please note your birth and death dates for Henrich Caspar RACKE are slightly wrong. His place of birth was Albisheim, now in Donnersbergkreis, Rheinland-Pfalz, but this is not listed on the cumbersome system that findagrave use, so the closest you can get is Donnersbergkreis. Similarly his place of death is Bart Twp and Lancaster County PA is the closest you can get for that.

As for your entry for John George RAKE, this should be RACKE or ROCKEY, all of the Lancaster County RACKE became ROCKEY but never RAKE. As you know there are still a lot of 'researchers' linking amongst others a certain Abraham RAKE to the RACKE/ROCKEY of Lancaster County, when clearly there is no connection.

kind regards
Karl
