What is a Veteran ?

A "Veteran" - whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve- is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to " The United States of America" for an amount of "up to, and including his/her life." That is honor. And there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact.

My Dad was only in the Air Force for a couple of years and was in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a A2C but does that make him any less of a soldier then someone who retired as a General ? I believe w/all my heart that regardless of what their rank is/was folks, they still served our country, and the rank is something they earned. I personally decided what was going to be on my parent's stone at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis and I put my Dads rank and the branch he served in etc. Granted-he was never addressed as A2C Shellhamer after he was discharged from the Air Force, but his discharge paperwork clearly stated what rank he achieved while serving our country. Each and every man and woman who wore a military uniform deserves our respect and gratitude and as long as there is still breath in me, I will continue to honor them !!!

***NAMES / MILITARY DESIGNATIONS: While some people adamantly refuse to add it, I WILL honor their service and rank. A veteran who has served honorably in a time of war may bear the title of the highest grade held during that war. This right is conferred by Congress in law by 10 US Code 772 Section .***JoAnn HAGANS Harris #46479896 :)

***PLEASE don't ask me to change the way I have the plot information on memorials that either I have created or memorials that have been transferred to me. I personally feel it looks neater the way I have it and prefer it to stay that way :)***

Feel free to ask for a transfer as I will gladly transfer memorials to those who ask regardless of the relationship to the person for whom the memorial was created for :) All I ask in return is a simple "Thank-You".

Upon my death I authorize any of my memorials to be transferred to any FAG contributor as they are requested.
