Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and grew up just east of there in the small town of Murrysville. Through Army, college, and company transfers, I've retired to East Texas.

I was married to Janet Marie (Vogel) Hartley ,and have three children, Tim, Todd & Kari.

My genealogy interests are (Paternal): Hartley, Headlee(ey), Gass (my stone wall), Fordyce, Lemley, Shriver, Barrickman, Jones, Cunningham and Prickett. (Maternal): Green, Knox, Jackson, Scott (England), Heacox, Barton and Hawley.
I'm willing to take photos for anyone in and around the Tyler, Texas area. I would like to thank those that have taken photos for me. I've "met" some great friends that way.

Please email me with any additions and/or corrections and I'll gladly update.

Please note: Many thanks to Carolina Angel for sponsoring my wife's memorial page.

A very special thank you to my friend Diane Miller for sponsoring my great grandparents, Joseph & Margaret (Scott) Green and Albert Henry Knox. Please visit Diane's family.

RE: Hartley's in Greenwood Vs. Greenlawn
I think that Sarah (Hartley) Smith should be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Just seeing that she died in Quaker City makes me think that she probably belongs in Greenlawn. I think that her husband should be in Greenlawn too, because Smith is a somewhat common last name in the Quaker City area. A man named Jonah Smith somewhat helped to start Quaker City, even though John Hall was there first. If you didn't know Quaker City is named Quaker City because of the Hall's, Hartley's, Webster's, Doudna's, Williams', Smith's, etc. these were the Quaker families who were the first settlers in this area. Quaker City also used to be known as Millwood and Leatherwood.

I had hoped to find it, but sometimes the gravestones or the records simply aren't there. We did everything we could and I kindly thank you for understanding. Rhonda

RE: Morney Dawson Headlee
Hi, Olin,
There are lots of cemeteries in Tyler Co. Lucky for you, the Tyler Co. Historical Soc. about mid-1990's published their cemetery readings. I have four volumes of those.

Mornia D. Headley is buried at Walnut Fork Cemetery, aka Thompson. Info shown: w/o James; maiden name, Dawson; born April 17, 1852; died Feb. 14, 1897.

It appears James is buried next to her: s/o Elisha & Elizabeth. Marker is only a fieldstone - no dates available.

These readings were done 1983-86. The cemetery is in McElroy District. Description/location: On point above confluence of Headley Branch with mainstream Walnut Fork of Indian Creek, below churchouse, across run from road, western slope. 208 graves - 155 marked; 53 unmarked.
