A cemetery is not a place just to bury the dead. It should be a sacred place for quiet reflection, peace, tranquility, honor, and remembrance. It is a history of people and a perpetual record of yesterday.|
Love begins with a smile...grows with a kiss...and ends with a teardrop....
I will not use chalk, shaving cream, brake fluid or any other potentially harmful methods to enhance the inscriptions. Please do not use these on any photo requests I make, Thank You.
Although FINDAGRAVE can be very useful for genealogy, FINDAGRAVE as the name implies is a grave registration site not a genealogy site. I try to use this as my guide when on this site.
I will NOT add a link to a burial unknown memorial, because I am still actively looking for where the person is actually buried. This site is named Find a GRAVE for a reason.
Please do not request to add a birth date calculated from the gravestone, unless the complete age is known or listed (y/m/d). Dates that do not agree with the gravestone will be placed in the bio section. Thank You.

Most welcome Gary, any time. I am already looking forward to spring!!

Hi and thanks very much for all you contribute to findagrave.
I am writing to ask you to remove some photos I believe are included in the wrong memorial.
Stephen Baldwin Ford had two wives named Harriett: Harriett Smith (1790-1838) and Harriett Williams (1804-1899).
You create a memorial and photos for Harriet SMITH Ford (68911058). But you also added your photos to a memorial for Harriet WILLIAMS Ford (29025181).
If you would please consider removing the photos from memorial 29025181 I would appreciate it. Thanks very much.

No problem, Gary! I'm glad I was able to find more Boughtons in Oakwood. It's nice to be able to link everyone together. It was a very beautiful day the day I took those pictures. I'm running out of nice days before the snow flies... but I'll be back at it in the Spring. I'm out of town now, and I miss being able to walk through Oakwood. It's a great place.

Writing to let you know I just added more Boughtons to Oakwood. I'm not sure if you're related to these Boughtons, but please let me know if you'd like them transferred to you.

I sent a request in to Find A Grave ministration to merge all five parts into one cemetery. Based on the research I did it seems evident that while some continue to use the old names of the parts, they are in fact just one cemetery. If you look at the cemetery on Google Map (satellite view is best) it is very obvious there is just one large cemetery, bounded by three roads making a triangular plot.
I understand the point you are making, but I don't think it is valid when you examine the cemetery in any depth. If you enter any of the named gates, some of which still have the old signs, there is nothing that separates any of the old parts from one another . . . no fences, walls or other inner boundary items.
Rather than having duplicate memorials (which I hope Find A Grave will resolve by merging the cemetery parts), I think it would be best to indicate within the bio of the original memorial that this cemetery is known by any of it's old names, and then remove the duplicates. This complies with the policy of Find A Grave about avoiding duplicates.
I found a number of memorials with this same issue, and a few other cemeteries made up of multiple old parts that also should be merged and have been submitting edit requests to the managers and merge requests to Find A Grave. It seems Connecticut has been combining old cemeteries into one larger one for quite a while.
I really screwed up on this one.

I read only one wife not two. That is where the 'Lake' came from.

Not a problem at all. Would you like the memorials I added transferred to your care?
