|Ronn E. Friend||James Arnold|
Thanks for the information regarding James Arnold, etc. I am very familiar with the Oakland cemetery and the various family graves there. I have a yellowed battered copy of JA's obit that appeared in The Republican. Somehow I missed that he was buried in the IOOF cemetery. The online copy is much easier to read! I need to do research on the IOOF cemetery to determine when it came about. As I mentioned in my earlier inquiry, our family has always referred to this section as the lower cemetery. Again, thanks for you most kind and helpful reply.
|Ronn E. Friend||Odd Fellows Cemetery, Garrett County, Maryland|
I am not familiar with Odd Fellows Cemetery in Oakland, MD. I have Arnold and Whorton relatives buried in the "lower cemetery" known as the Episcopal Cemetery. I noticed that you have listed my 3X great grandfather as being buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery: Find A Grave Memorial# 119515269. Also the infant sister of my grandfather and daughter of J.W. and Edna Whorton: Find A Grave Memorial# 119300350. J.W. and Edna Whorton's graves are next to infant daughter -- but not listed as Odd Fellows. All my records indicate the lower part of Oakland Cemetery as the Episcopal section. Please advise. I am somewhat confused since I have all my relatives in this section as buried in the "lower or Episcopal" section of the cemetery. Thank you, Ronn Friend
