Retired US Army Judge Advocate and Civil Affairs operator.|
My list of Battle Buddies is a special virtual cemetery. It contains fellow soldier memorials who were killed in action or later died as a result of their wounds. I was privileged to have served with 6 of them. (If you read between the lines you will learn the stories of the other 2 who have a "family" connection to me.) Three other soldiers were fellow unit members and 6 of them were fellow Judge Advocate General Corps members. And 3 memorials are for civilians who were from units I was associated with. My memorials and sponsorships to all these servicemembers is my small effort to honor them.
And here is the story about the memorials that I added to the United Nations Cemetery in Busan, South Korea. When I was an enlisted medic, I was stationed in Busan. My sight-seeing of the city brought me to the cemetery. Nearly 35 years later I am happy to add names to this cemetery. The smaller countries are completed. (Larger countries like Canada and Turkey must wait for now.) Do you – yes, YOU – have a connection to those soldiers, sailors, airmen who died in the Korean War? Please let me know and I will gladly transfer management of those soldiers to you.

|James L. "Jim" Maze Jr||RALPH F MAZE (MAZZA) MEMORIAL|
Thank you for sponsoring my uncle's and well as my father's, JAMES LEE MAZE (MAZZA), memorials. I had sought to add info, not test, to the Wikipedia "Bataan Death March" article. Specifically the National Archive photo of three prisoners on April 9, 1942. Since that time the middle prisoner has been identified, erroneous in my opinion, as Pfc Frank Spear and referenced as, "From work of Jason MacDonald". My uncle showed me this photo very early in my 26 year USMC career, identified himself, and confirmed it was taken just before the march began at Mariveles, Philippines. I have no reason to doubt him, the profile resemblance is uncanny when compared to his photos and my father's photos at findagrave memorials. I just want the record corrected. I've established he was indeed a POW during the march. Regards, Jim Maze

Thank you so much for sponsoring his memorial. What a nice way to honor and remember his sacrifice than by sponsoring him on Memorial Day.
