Georgia (Decatur, and now Cherokee County) has been home for two thirds (most) of my life. Two sons, three granddaughters, and three grandsons, all of whom are Georgians. |
An Amarillo, Texas native (and 10 yr. native of Fort Worth), and seven generations removed from Patrick and Margaret McCullough Phinney of Chester (District)County, SC, dating from 1786.
History at times surpasses genealogy as the greater interest. This site is a compilation of stories from individuals responsible for that history, and it never ceases to improve with each addition.
Paternal Lineage: Phinney, Crosser, Wright, McCullough
Maternal Lineage : Daniel, Newman, Talley, Magee
One of many favorite transcriptions :
"Tis but a few whose days amount
To three score and ten
And all beyond that short account
Is sorrow, toil and pain."
(from Nancy Agnes Austen McCreight headstone)

|Linda Davis||RE: Annie Walker - Cuthbert|
From my caption
"Mrs. Walker was a charter member of the Columbus GA Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonist."
Take the word "Revolution" out of your sentence as there is no such group as the "Daughters of the American Revolution Colonists." You have merged two separate groups into one! :)

Anytime. Been there and done that.
A few years ago, a friend gave me a "mess" of old DAR magazines (1970's) with all these ladies in formal attire for a formal photo...I am posting a few. My major problem is the ladies are called in the caption by their husband's name....Mrs. Jackson Cooper, for example. Figuring who SHE is a problem at times so not every one of the photos are being posted. I hate just to throw the magazines in the trash. I have checked and no one wants them. It is history.

Hello, I always like to leave a note who gave me info so I will remember, and also in case someone else may need more info. Also it is another way to thank someone for the work they do to help others. Have a great afternoon. Blessings
|Scott Baumann||Transfer of Henry Hora|
Thank you very much for transferring Henry Hora's gravesite to me. I will be adding his parents momentarily.
|Ann Kennedy Patton||RE: James Kennedy 1833-1880|
Thanks for adding obit. I came across when searching for Hugh Kennedy b. 1790's and was living in Acworth prior to his death. His wife was from Chattanooga area. I am related to the Kennedy's in Bartow county, but only distantly. A transfer is not necessary, but I would accept if transferred. It is strictly up to you. I think this James is probably a son of Hugh, but at this point I'm not sure. The names of his children fall in line w/ those of other relatives. His occupation of Sheriff is in line w/ other Kennedy's of the time. Hugh seems to have dropped off the earth, but he will eventually turn up. Probably just hasn't been posted yet. Thanks for your help.

I just got your request for correction of Kate Burkhart, wife of Calvin Peter Burkhart, a great, great uncle of mine. Can you tell me if her maiden name was Connor, and, if so, where does Whittlesey fit in? Is it her middle name and perhaps her mother's maiden name? If this is the case, I would greatly appreciate learning about her parents for both Find a Grave and my family tree, which I've been working on for nearly four yrs. (since Oct 2010). Thanks so very much. My younger sister, Nancy, is recovering from back surgery so I've not been spending much time on line the past 11 days, but am her care taker and this is her 8th back surgery. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.
With All Sincerity, Kathie L. Webb Blair, Portland, OR
P.S. Do you happen to have any pictures of her? Thank you.

No, I don't. I wondered that also. I am planning to research and see if it is one of his siblings. Has me wondering if he and his wife were together when he passed away. They didn't share a tombstone anyway. If I do figure it out I will put the other names in. As far as being related it is shirt tail relation or inlaw. don't need to transfer. Thanks

I don't meet the Find A Grave criteria, but I'd be honored to maintain the memorials. It's up to you. We met at a family reunion and corresponded for several years. They were distant cousins of my husband.
