I am more than glad to transfer management of any entry that I am not directly related to. I think Find A Grave is a useful tool for family history searches, but personally I think it is awesome to have a place where EVERYONE can have their own little memorial space. Therefore many of my entries are not my family, but rather my effort to provide a memorial for as many as possible. I also welcome correction requests and will update any memorials that need it.|
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

|Lisa||RE: Joel Wideman|
Just realized who you are. Thank you so much for the transfer.
Your rainbow reminds me of driving up to their house after the funeral. It hadn't been raining there, but there was a complete rainbow in the east. Our message from him....
Tears again...thank you. Lisa

Thank you for the photo!
Thank you for the photo from Kidwell.I know Emma was still living in the 1880 census and I hoped her death date would be visible on the stone, but no luck. The photo is wonderful and appreciated. I'm still looking for Emma's maternal Aunt (Martha J. Nisley) who actually was near Emma's age,b.1879, but who died sometime before 1900. I realize Martha could have married, but I haven't found record of that either. Just thought I'd mention her in case you ever run across her in Harrison County. Again, Thank you for the photo!

|Anita Dennis||RE: William Blessing|
WWI Draft Registration Card lists him as William Carl Blessing, but as he "made his mark", we're relying on the registrar's spelling.
12 Ancestry Family Trees use Carl, one (which attached the death certificate) uses Carrl.
