Hi, I only became a contributor a few years ago. I have been fascinated reading the obits in the virtual cemetery. I guess it must be the history major in me. One of my most enjoyable pasttimes is reading. I especially enjoy histories and mysteries. My interest in history is mostly about American history, especially the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. Reading about both has turned me into an ardent Unionist and Lincoln fan. The Union forever!

I was born in Ogden, Utah to an Air Force sergeant and his wife, James and Maxine (Swift) Entwistle. Consequently, I lived in several states and overseas in Japan (which I don't remember) and in Morocco (which I do remember). After my dad retired, I grew up in Oklahoma. I graduated from Midwest City High School, and then I attended Central State University, which is now the University of Central Oklahoma (earning BA in history and education and an MA in English). Then I was at Oklahoma State University (Go Cowboys!!) for 3 years working on a PhD. However, I finally got tired of school, so in 1978, I joined the Air Force, graduating from Officer Training School.I spent over 12 years in the Air Force as a missile maintenance officer at F.E. Warren AFB, an ROTC instructor at AFROTC Det 665, University of Cincinnati, and then as an education/training officer at the Defense Information School in Indianapolis and at Los Angeles AFB. I met my husband in the Air Force; we married in 1980 and have a son and a daughter. They're grown up, but they kept us busy with school and scouts. Jennie was in Girl Scouts and achieved the Silver Award. Mike is an Eagle Scout and just received his Bachelor degree in history and English, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I now teach English at a community college in San Antonio, TX. We also have 3 cats that we love a lot: Lady, Tramp, and Kitty-Kitty. We miss our one boy cat, Dusty, who died, but we know he's waiting at the rainbow bridge for us. Our sweet Shadow has now passed on to join her brother at the rainbow bridge. Goodbye, sweet girl. Sept. 9, 2014, we lost another sweet girl, Kitty-Kitty. We'll miss all of you.

I really enjoy searching for lost relatives and friends. I have been amazed to find two uncles,an aunt, and my maternal grandfather here, among others. There is one aunt I would love to find, but I do not know how to begin. My mother's sister, Emma Jean (or Emmajean) Swift disappeared from Oklahoma City around 1938-1940. We know through death records that she died in 1980 in the Fort Worth area. We always wanted to know the answer to "why" and to find her grave. If there are any detectives out there, maybe they can find her. She's probably buried in the Tarrant county area.

Family names I look for include: on my mother's side I am related to Swift, DeVall, Ogden, Dann, Williams families. On my father's side, I am related to Entwistle and Driscoll families (in Massachusetts mostly) Entwistles have been impossible to find although I know many of them must be interred in the Boston area and neighboring counties. My husband's families include Sauser and Gammell.

If you have time, please visit the pages of my family and friends listed here:
James Xavier Entwistle (father)
Maxine Entwistle (mother)
Lt. Charles Drayton Henricks (died in Vietnam)
Aden Swift (grandfather)
Velma Devall Swift (grandmother)
Charles Aden Swift (uncle)
Robert Devall Swift (uncle)
Josephine"Louise" Smith (aunt)
LTC Robert "Dean" Gammell (father-in-law)

Also, Look up these victims from my hometown (Midwest City, OK) who died in the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, April 19, 1995:

RE: Emmaline Ogden DeVall
Sharon,
I have added Maddux and McNutt info in the Haskew Cemetery and linked them to the DeVall's.
Checking on Laura DeVall parents, I have found a marriage license for her father under pmcbrasil family tree on Ancestry that listed the date of death for his first wife as Feb 9, 1894. This needs to checked before adding Betsey to Laura post.
Let me know what you find out.

Nope--not related. I have about 26,000 memorials and I am not related to most of them. Most of my relatives are managed by other Find A Grave volunteers.

RE: Henry Clay DeVall, Sr. and Laura Emmaline Ogden DeVall
These are my great-great grandparents through my father's mother. My grandmother, Bessie Hotchkiss was a Gillaspy and her mother was Linnie DeVall Gillaspy. I am still working on the children of the DeVall's. All are buried in the Burlingame Cemetery.

Patrick O'Rorke note
Sharon, As I am a fellow civil war fan, I appreciate all the notes that you and others have left behind. I have just recently started doing so as well.

One note about your note on Patrick O'Rorke's memorial...I'm sure you were standing on top of Little Round Top, vice Little Big Horn, when you gazed upon the valley of death. This caught my eye, as I've studied the heck out of Custer's Last Stand.

While on the subject of O'Rorke (a hero of Gettysburg, in my eye), do you know about the nose on his memorial? Rubbing his nose is supposed to bring good lick; the nose on his face is shiny from the many people who have rubbed it over the years.

Lastly, next time you're in Gettysburg, stop at the Applician (sp?) brewery, next to the Lee's hq house...they have super mac n cheese, with a mound of crispy bacon piled on top.

Keep the notes acoming !!!!! ~ Tom Fonner

RE: Dixie Lee Swift
I looked at the local funeral home to see what they had in their record. They have Dixie listed as an infant, but no further info. I also checked the paper to see if there was an obit, but found nothing. I would guess that you are looking for an older person, but you could try contacting the funeral home to see if they have any further info.

RE: Request for transfers
Hi Sharon,
I've transferred the two Williams memorials to you. What is your line of descent from this couple? I've followed their line pretty completely down four or five generations, so I'm interested in where you fit in.
