David Ayres is my great grandfather on my fathers side. I have loaned the CMOH to the Ohio Military Museum in Massilon, Ohio where it resides in a special area known as the Captain David Ayres display. The actual medal, the certificate, the ribbon, a copy of the last Vicksburg newspaper printed (by the Union army no less) and his certificate of membership in the Association of the Survivors of the Battle of Shilow ( an organization consisting of both Confederate and Union soldiers (battle evens out everything).
