Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am from Attala County, Mississippi, and I resarch the families: Amerson, Burrell, Callicott, Edwards, Hester, Jenkins, Mangrum, Wallace, and Youngblood. The families I research are primarily based in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. I also research the Reese family in Florida, and the Edley family in Kentucky, Florida, and Sweden. I currently live in Tennessee. If you have any information or questions, please contact me by email.

I will be very happy to transfer memorials to relatives, but please state how you are related!! I will transfer if I am not related!

Please do not copy/download any photos on the memorials I own without notifying me first! Thanks!

G.C. Edwards
Hey, dixiedarlinms, I am writing to correct some of the information on my grandfather's memorial.

"Geneis Conley Edwards was born October 14, 1907 to James Wert "Jamie" and Winnie (Youngblood) Edwards. During World War I, his mother ran off to Texas while his father was in France, and she left him to her sister, Ethel, to raise him. Then, after the war, Jamie moved to Illinois and Geneis was left in Ethel's care permanently. He married Myrtis Mangrum and they had two children, James Conley and Betty Ann. Geneis and Myrtis divorced, and he married again to Euelle (maiden name unknown). He died on November 15, 1990 at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi."

#1 - GC's mother did not run off to Texas while her husband was in France during WWI. Jamie Wert Edwards divorced Winnie when he found her in the company of another man. This would have been during or before 1912. He moved to Chicago soon after this time and, several years later, enlisted in the US Army in 1917. Winnie moved and remarried - 2nd to George Martin (2 girls & 1 boy) and 3rd to Richard Middleton (2 boys). She carried her sons, GC and Joe, with her.

#2 - Geneis and Joe were not left in Ethel's care. Ethel and her father, W.D. Youngblood, upon hearing that the boys were being abused by Winnie's then husband, went to Yazoo City and took the boys. You are right that they were then raised by Papa and Ethel. Grandaddy would have been about 7/8 and Joe 2/3 years old.

#3 - Euelle's maiden name is Boykin.

#4 - Alton Lester Middleton is not a sibling to G.C. He is not Winnie Youngblood's son. His brother's name was Alton Rodgers Middleton (1925 - 1995). I cannot find a memorial for him, but he has to be in Texas.

I would like to request that you allow me to maintain G.C.'s memorial, since he is my grandfather and my mother, his daughter, is still living.

Thank you,
Lori Brunt

Winnie Youngboood Martin ~ Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery
Just wanted to let you know that the Texas Death Certificate for Winnie lists her last name as Middleton, not Martin.

James Hester Photo Request
Hi Ms. dixiedarlinMS,

I notice a photo request listed for above subject at Macedonia Baptist Church in Cleburne County, AL. However, a photo of the gravesite stone is posted by you. I just wanted to make you aware that the request is still posted.

Have a great day.

Benjamin Barrow Taylor
I love your DixieDarlins. I went to USM and that was the name of the Dance line there. Anyway, writing about Benjamin Barrow Taylor. I wondered if you ever heard of him having a son named Sidney Ira Taylor? My Great Grandfather was b in Mississippi in 1838. He may be the Sidney in the 1850 census which makes it very hard for me to place him with a family. One person on Ancestry has him as Benjamin's son with Francina Mahan not dates. His first wife was only 12 when Sidney was born or his second wife. I can't even find anywhere that he had two wives. Still working on this. Just in case you have any ideas. Thanks. Clarissa
