Hi Dorothy,

Sorry, documents for John and Jane seem to be as scarce as hen's teeth. Everyone is still looking.

Until Later....God Bless,

The Mikado, et al.

I have been trying to clear up the Sugg family photo and, during that time period, Lizzie Sugg was still married to Pomp Mires/Miers.

I am thinking he MIGHT be in the photo; do you have any photographs of Pomp that I might use for comparison?

RE: Rays
Dorothy, Hello so nice to hear from you. There is always a possibility that we are related. I have Jackson's in my tree, but not related to "my" Ray's I think they were from Ga, or at least some of them. The Ray's in my tree are from Lauderdale, Al and Wayland Springs, Tn. Also the Brewer's from the same area.
All I found in my tree for a Webb is the following: Lyndon Baines Johnson's Great Grandma: Article from Greensboro Herald Journal. Lucy Webb sister of Susannah Webb was grandma, not mother of Lucy Webb who married a Barnett.
If you would like an invitation to my tree on Ancestry, just let me know.
Glad to hear from you and I'm sure we can make a connection somewhere.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

RE: Email
I found the email I had sent to you on 5/23/2014...There are about 60 Ashby's in our family tree... here is something I have attached to Halifax Ashby, you may already have it but if you are like me you'd rather receive it a thousand times than not at all...

Some descendants of Halifax Ashby
As per Noveda Metzger's book "Some decendants of Halifax Ashby"
My SUPPOSITION is that John Ashby and his wife Sarah (McCulloch) are the parents of Halifax Ashby. Sarah (McCulloch) Ashby is on the tax rolls in years that Halifax Ashby is not (1790's). Stafford County VA December Court 1790 (13th day of December 1790): "Ordered that it be certified that SARAH ASHBY widow of John ASHBY late a private in the 3rd Virginia Regiment and a pensioner of this State is still living and continues an object deserving the assistance of the Public as a pensioner her situation and circumstances having little altered except that her children are grown." [Finding this and knowing that Halifax and his wife, Jane HUDSON have had their first child in 1790 , I believe that either Halifax was the youngest child, or at least the last to leave home.] Again, in those same records: Stafford County VA July Court 1791 (11th day of July 1791): "Ordered that the Sheriff pay SARAH ASHBY her pension of twelve pounds per annum for the years 1787, 1788, 1789, she having appeard at the bar of this Court formerly and made oath that she had never received payment for those years, and at the same time been continued on the pension list." Noveda Ashby Metzger - Oct. 2000.

Halifax Ashby, said to be born in England, probably 1765 (reference Goodspeed's "History of Tennessee", published 1886) and, died between September 1824 and March 1825 in Surry County, NC (date of last land transaction and "Inventory and amount of sales of the property of Halifax Ashby, deceased".) His wife was said to be Sarah Jane Hudson (ref: "The Life and History of Mrs. Ida Amelia Ashby" by B.A. Ashby, 1893, never published and a December 1908 letter from T.N. Ashby). Sarah Jane died about 1819 in Surry County, NC (reference December 1908 letter from T.N. Ashby) and between 1810 and 1820 (reference 1810 and 1820 United States Cencus of Surry County, NC).
