Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi there! I create memorials to remember the dead and to help folks connect with the memories of loved ones. Final disposition is the last chapter of anyone's story, an important element of genealogy. I'm happy to tranfer memorials that are not my immediate family. Please use the Edit tab to request page transfers and to suggest corrections or offer additional facts.

In late June 2014 I moved back to Michigan from California to be my Mom's primary caregiver; she is a stroke survivor and we are currently navigating the world of old age senility/dementia. While here I have been enjoying "Find A Graving" at nearby cemeteries in White Lake, Highland and Milford. My go to resource for researching older graves are the township cemetery transcripts published by the Oakland County Genealogy Society, invaluable field guides. Thank you OCGS!

I appreciate all the flowers people have left for my beloved Dad! Thank you! :) December 10, 2016 will be his 32nd Angel Day. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. He was a wonderful person and parent.

ABOUT ME & CEMETERIES: I've been drawn to cemeteries for as long as I can remember, having often played among the old tombstones at Oxbow Lakeside Cemetery while growing up in White Lake, Michigan.

When I moved to Los Angeles in 1988 I began exploring celebrity graves as a hobby and along the way have been just as moved by the neighboring "civilian" headstones that surround and outnumber them. I met like-minded grave hunters when The Hollywood Underground Yahoo group was formed in 1998.

I ran the website from 2007-2015 in order to keep the public informed about the ongoing closure/lawsuit story happening there in Glendale, Calif. The cemetery is now under new ownership and I am focusing on chronicling its 100+ year history.

Volunteers still work on updating the Grand View FindAGrave page and fulfilling photo requests.

Adventures in Grave Hunting is my cemetery-related blog. I haven't updated it in a while but the archives of old stories go back several years. I have a huge backlog of interesting stories just waiting to be told when I have more free time.

My first contribution to Find A Grave was in August 2000, in honor of my grave hunting buddy Denis Svoboda.

I collect vintage photographs of grave markers and of people posing in cemeteries, wondering about the stories behind the snapshots. I like to match them with Find A Grave memorials that are already online, virtually reuniting loved ones whose pictures somehow ended up for sale here and there. See the evolving results here.

Hi Lisa! Thank you for the photos of Susan Parrish'(Find A Grave Memorial# 154849164) and John Parrish headstones! Wow! They look hard to read - you are a good hunter!

Donald Elgas - Highland 128901753
Lisa, thanks so much for catching my error regarding Donald's burial location. As it appears that there are 2 Highland Township Cemeteries in Osceola County, Michigan, do you have any idea WHICH one he is in?

Thanks for your help,

RE: Adelaide V Moore Hitchcock
Thank you again. I was wondering if they were buried next to each other, now you have confirmed it. I also found the death certificate of Clara on Seeking Michigan and it was signed by her cousin Edith Stott.

Best Regards,

Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for the information on Adelaide. I had no idea that she had ever married or had a daughter. This is such a great discovery. I appreciate you sharing it.

HUGS to your Mom - Lisa. What a lovely way to spend time together for fresh air & a little exercise & outing for your Mom - so glad she enjoys exploring cemetery history too.

Thank you so much Lisa for locating her burial location next to her husband - I love your thoughtful tradition of the "flowers" to mark the grave. I'm not related but I wanted to fill in some blanks of this interesting family for others as I become attached to so many & their history. I read your profile and thank you for your out-standing work & hobby to record history - Blessings to You & Your Mom - that is not an easy task & very rewarding to her.

Geno D'Angelo
Hello Lisa-

Thank you for the correct cemetery for Mr. D'Angelo. That's the first time I've had to move a memorial to a different cemetery! I added his memorial from an obituary and it had the wrong cemetery. While I was moving his memorial I looked him up on Ancestry and added what I found.

Keep up the good work.

I contacted the township clerk's office as usual to try and get the lot and grave numbers for this one as they keep the records for the cemetery. Anyway, they don't have a record of this one. Obviously it's there, you took the picture. I sent them a copy, hope you don't mind. But I was wondering if you have any idea where you were in the cemetery when you took this picture? Any information can help... landmarks... names from nearby grave markers... Then they can send the sextant out to take note of it so they have some sort of official record.

RE: Photos Coming Soon
Thanks. So do you. Unfortunately health issues are keeping me from actually going to the cemetery of late. Hoping to get it straightened out soon so I can get back to work, so to speak.
