I've always been interested in cemeteries, obituaries, people's lives, how they lived their lives and how their lives ended.. and I've climbed over a few cemetery walls in my day...now I'm married to a wonderful man. I'm a stay at home Mom with a 11 year old and a 10 year old, and when my children are asleep....usually late at night, I'm on my favorite site, Find A Grave. It's a beautiful place to leave notes and flowers of love. It's such an honor to be able to leave flowers and notes for all of these special people that loved and were loved by someone. Find A Grave is also a great place to help remind us all how important it is to tell those around us that we love them while we're still here on earth. |
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who leaves a flower or kind note for my loved ones.

|Elisa Christensen||My Sister Rhonda|
You left a beautiful little, dancing girl for my sister Rhonda McGuire. She was only 12 when she died. She was born healthy but with a little bit of a rash and the doctor put Neomyacin all over her. This caused her to develop aplastic anemia. She had constant, very life threatening health problems from then on. She had to receive around four blood transfusions a week to keep her alive. My parents were told she wouldn't live past seven,
At age 8, she started producing her own red blood cells, a medical miracle. She was a beautiful, delicate, sweet, very petite blond girl who wanted to someday become a doctor, since hospitals were mostly what she knew. My parents were very young (they married at 15 and 17, had our brother at 16 and 18, and Rhonda two years later.). They were also quite poor. They struggled, but Rhonda got my mom's sunny disposition, and was constantly saying, "Mom, aren't we lucky?"
At age 12, she became very ill one night and started to run a dangerously high fever. My mom felt her die in her arms that night, then she came back and looked my mom in the eyes and said, "It's okay, Mom, I saw it and it's going to be okay." They rushed her to the hospital but it was too late. She died in my mom's arms on the way, from liver failure from the very transfusions that had kept her alive.
I was born 6 years later and never got to meet her, although I've always felt very close to her. This excerpt from a poem always reminds me of her:
"Be like the bird, who, halting in her flight, on a limb too slight, sings, knowing she hath wings."
Thank you so much for caring.

Love and hugs, and have a great weekend! It will be the 15th for the MRI and the 18th for the return visit to the surgeon... then I hope a decision can be made!

|Lu Ann||Thank You|
Thank you for your lovely note about my husband. It will be a long road, but he will be back to "normal" (whatever that may be LOL) eventually. Thankfully he has retained his sense of humor. I appreciate you keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.
