Just thought I'd mention that the Schlessinger's have two ("s's") because after Labor Schlessinger came over from Bohemia/Czech Republic, he got tired (my guess) of explaining that they were not Jewish. So he added an extra "s" to the name. The original name was with one "s". That information was passed own the family line.

Thanks for your message a while back about this person being related to you. I can appreciate that. Should you need anything on the Schlessinger's, I have all of it in Ancestry.Com under VR Family Tree.

Again, thanks for your response and if I can help you, please let me know. Emery #47084435

Do you know anything about this Cora S. Risley as to whom she was married to or anything about her family.

She is listed as a sister in a 1940 census and that family was from Evan Risley and Evan and his wife had no child Cora. I believe a mistake was made by and the census the name should have read Charles S. Risley born 1871.

The worse part is Cora and Charles are buried in the same cemetery. I would like to find out What family this Cora was from.

Thanks Myrna

I have a question about R. Ashby Cromwell, 1861-1873. You have him as the son of Randolph Smith Cromwell and Elizabeth Benson (Stewart) Cromwell. I'm wondering if he might be instead the son of a different Randolph S. Cromwell and Henrietta (Phelps) Cromwell. They lived and died in Anne Arundel County. I found the following obituary at

"CROMWELL, Randolph Ashby on 6/24/1873 son of Randolph and Henrietta CROMWELL of A.A. Co. MD. Death was caused by being kicked by a mule."

There are so many Cromwells with similar and shared names living in the Baltimore area around the same time! It's very confusing.

RE: refusal
I had added an extra comment in the refusal edit.

Adella Blanche Reynolds is in my line, so I have tried to sort out the Johnson / Johnston usage.

I get the Johnson from her marriage record to Wilson S Johnson (which can be found on I also have the burial plot record from Union Dale Cemetery, which lists both Wilson and Adella as Johnson.

I am aware that their death certificates say Johnston but I don't feel that this is correct. Adella signed her brother's death certificate as the informant (John M Reynolds, July 26 1918, also on as Mrs W S Johnson and as this is (to me) an original signature unlike the death certificate for Wilson S Johnson where her 'signature' appears to be someone else's transcription (the entire certificate in the same handwriting), I feel confident that Johnson is the correct surname.
