|Pattie Ford||RE: Edna Ingraham Knoell|
ok let me know
|Pattie Ford||Edna Ingraham Knoell|
I have created a memorial for Edna in Custer Center Cemetery and links to Frank and her parents. Are you sure Edna is buried there? Hope I understood your instructions.

I've updated their burial location. Thanks for the information.

Kathy I submitted a date change to 1910, not 1916, I went up and took another pix, rubbing the date, as you can see it is a 0 not 6, with the rust spot it look like a 6.
Finding these two articles brought this to question.
ST. PAUL REPUBLICAN Thu, Jul 7, 1910 St. Paul Nebraska Page : 8
Mrs Frank Stenka was seriously sick last week appendicitis being the cause of the illness she was getting worse every day and it was necessary to operate Dr Pedersen with the assistance of a livery man brought the patent to the hospital Monday and Dr performed the operation, and now she is getting along fine.
ST. PAUL REPUBLICAN Thu, Nov 10, 1910 St. Paul Nebraska Page : 8
Mrs J R Stenka died at the Far well hospital Monday after a long illness during during which she battled bravely for life but It was no use The funeral was held Wednesday She leaves a husband and three small children The sincere sympatby of all Is extended to the bereaved family.
Upon finding these articles, question is raised on the dates on the stone. If she died Monday, and the funeral was wednesday, and printed on thursday the 10th, death had to have been 7th, funeral 9th. Verified with picture, it is 1910, not 1916.

Thank you for the offer! I assume you are familiar with the Greater Omaha Genealogical Society https://gogsmembers.wordpress.com/
Their obituaries are very brief: name, age, perhaps cemetery, perhaps wife/husband, newspaper and publication data. But they also have links to marriages, divorces, etc. and not just for Douglas County.
It, too, is a free site.

This one is set to D; but there are other items too: burial plots/marriage licenses, etc. The obits have SOME connection to Washington County, Nebraska, but that said, it may simply be that somebody cleaned out her grandma's house and took a lot of things to Washington County Recycling (where I also volunteer, and where the paper sorters save back funeral leaflets and old newspapers), or that a person attended Dana College, or that somebody's aunt lived in Washington County..you get the idea. We have recently been going through old microfilm/microfiche, and picking off the obits. It isn't perfect, by a long shot, but it is still pretty good, and we are adding to it all the time.
Currently I am proofing the D's, and that is why I sent one to you.
It is free and you don't have to be a member (and though donations are welcome we don't nag).

We actually have over 17,000 obits on our free site, and are adding to it.

What proof do you have that she was born in Ord, NE and died in Kansas? I don't accept Ancestry trees or personal family histories as proof. At least two of her siblings were born in Arcadia. If you have an obit for her I would gladly add it. thanks!!!
Thanks for the edits!
