"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren".

"The goal at Find A Grave should not be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."
~Jim Tipton, creator of Find A Grave.

I will gladly transfer within the guidelines and am more than happy to make corrections and additions to those memorials which fall outside of the guidelines. If memorials I've transferred are stripped of the obit or photos, I won't transfer anymore to that person. I do not transfer "all" of any name. Please use virtual cemeteries for the purpose of collecting "all" your relatives.
Please use the edit key for transfers and
changes or corrections.

Photos I take may be used, no need to ask permission, but please give me credit, as FAG photo takers are volunteers who provide their own gas and time to go take photos. Please put "Headstone photo taken by FAG Volunteer, Kathy #47737776" in the description box. Thank you, in advance.

I include the newspaper or funeral home when mentioned for future relatives who are trying to build their family trees. Even though other FAG members feel it is an easy way to "beat me" to the obituary. Shame on you. If you don't have the time to enter more than the date born and the date they died, maybe you need a new hobby. Every persons life should be remembered for more than just a couple dates.
A name with "unk" "unk" for the dates is no memorial at all. My purpose is a full and complete memorial.
So often I see-"my photos are not to be used on paid sites like ancestry.com". FAG is owned by Ancestry.com and has been for several years now. This is what FAG says--Find A Grave is owned and supported by Ancestry. Our Terms of Service state that when you upload content to Find A Grave, you grant Find A Grave and its group companies the right to reuse that content on other sites in the group, including ancestry.com. Ancestry users may include information found on Find A Grave in their trees on Ancestry sites and Ancestry may show information and images from Find A Grave in their search or other areas of the site. This expands the reach of the information collected on Find A Grave and helps other members of the Ancestry Community who are researching their ancestors.
And as for duplicates--"Because so many people add data to Find A Grave, there are often duplicate cemeteries and duplicate memorials added. This is a very common situation and is quite difficult to resolve in a way that keeps everyone happy. Before adding a memorial, search the cemetery to see if a record with that name has already been added. If you are adding a memorial for someone who has recently passed or who does not have a physical grave or memorial marker in a cemetery (perhaps their ashes were scattered), please do a general search on Find A Grave (do not enter a location) to see if a memorial has already been created for that person. If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. Never deliberately create a duplicate memorial". To me this means, send an edit, do not just make a duplicate. FAG has enough unintentional duplicates! When a woman has been married more than once--I use the name in the obituary, if a headstone isn't available from a previous marriage with her name on it. I don't "presume" she'll be buried with the first husband, as maybe the 2nd or 3rd marriage is who she preferred to be buried next to. I don't have ESP to know this.

you asked me why the burial "unknown". I took the picture at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetary in Omaha Nebraska. Lena's Stone was next to Raymond V Cole(her Husband).

Memorial for Glenn S Hurdle
Kathy,

You're maintaining memorial #88999406 for Glenn S Hurdle. His "parents" shown are actually his grandparents. Glenn was a son of Alvin Dillon Hurdle and his wife Lillian Catherine Wilt.

I'm not asking for any transfer, it's just that I can see you care about quality.

Kathy -- Thank you so much for your quick response in posting Alene's obituary. And thank you for the acknowledgement. I enjoyed reading your bio page. I like rules and I like to follow them (I'm an Army Brat). Even though I've read the Find A Grave guidelines, I always learn something from the details given by the users of this site. --Sheila

Hi. Am thinking you are related to this man since you created the memorial and posted his picture. I am wondering if you know how I can get in touch with his daughter Rosemary? She sent me a rather large packet of genealogy information a couple of years ago, and I haven't heard from her since. Please email me at dugocaryn@aol.com rather than leave a message in open chat. Thank you

Thanks for the tip re the obit in the Cotter Funeral Home website. I added that and photos today and a whole bunch more for the family. I have been hoping to work through the Lasee group methodically from the "top" down but that gets difficult when I spend sometimes months tracking one last child's grave down so I can complete a family set of links and bios. I sometimes need a reminder to gather low hanging fruit, so thank you. You helped me break up a long dry spell with some productivity :-)

RE: Tree Stump Memorials
Yes! These memorials are so interesting! Thanks for sharing! I read that most often each was "custom made" for the family - and contained a symbolism that represented the number of people in the family (by the branches) etc. They are so interesting & such a work of art!
