|"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren".|
"The goal at Find A Grave should not be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."
~Jim Tipton, creator of Find A Grave.
I will gladly transfer within the guidelines and am more than happy to make corrections and additions to those memorials which fall outside of the guidelines. If memorials I've transferred are stripped of the obit or photos, I won't transfer anymore to that person. I do not transfer "all" of any name. Please use virtual cemeteries for the purpose of collecting "all" your relatives.
Please use the edit key for transfers and
changes or corrections.
Photos I take may be used, no need to ask permission, but please give me credit, as FAG photo takers are volunteers who provide their own gas and time to go take photos. Please put "Headstone photo taken by FAG Volunteer, Kathy #47737776" in the description box. Thank you, in advance.
I include the newspaper or funeral home when mentioned for future relatives who are trying to build their family trees. Even though other FAG members feel it is an easy way to "beat me" to the obituary. Shame on you. If you don't have the time to enter more than the date born and the date they died, maybe you need a new hobby. Every persons life should be remembered for more than just a couple dates.
A name with "unk" "unk" for the dates is no memorial at all. My purpose is a full and complete memorial.
So often I see-"my photos are not to be used on paid sites like ancestry.com". FAG is owned by Ancestry.com and has been for several years now. This is what FAG says--Find A Grave is owned and supported by Ancestry. Our Terms of Service state that when you upload content to Find A Grave, you grant Find A Grave and its group companies the right to reuse that content on other sites in the group, including ancestry.com. Ancestry users may include information found on Find A Grave in their trees on Ancestry sites and Ancestry may show information and images from Find A Grave in their search or other areas of the site. This expands the reach of the information collected on Find A Grave and helps other members of the Ancestry Community who are researching their ancestors.
And as for duplicates--"Because so many people add data to Find A Grave, there are often duplicate cemeteries and duplicate memorials added. This is a very common situation and is quite difficult to resolve in a way that keeps everyone happy. Before adding a memorial, search the cemetery to see if a record with that name has already been added. If you are adding a memorial for someone who has recently passed or who does not have a physical grave or memorial marker in a cemetery (perhaps their ashes were scattered), please do a general search on Find A Grave (do not enter a location) to see if a memorial has already been created for that person. If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. Never deliberately create a duplicate memorial". To me this means, send an edit, do not just make a duplicate. FAG has enough unintentional duplicates!

While I appreciate your enthusiasm as a contributor to Find-A-Grave, your desire to increase your memorial numbers before my aunt is even buried is disturbing.

I'm new at posting on Find A Grave. I did memorial 161849284 for my husband and you also did 160039881 (which is far more complete than mine - love it). I wrote Dick's obit but never thought of incorporating it on his site. You did a wonderful job. I'd appreciate having my husband's transferred to me. Olive Leckbee

I believe 3-4 weeks ago you sent me a message asking me to add an obituary to a memorial. I believe the last name started with an L. If you remember this will you resend the obit. Thanks.

Some "tangling" has occurred. Clarence Grabbe (135256892) and Florence Colby Grabbe (87355814) are husband and wife. Their two sons are Donald Grabbe (135256891) and Harold Grabbe (113593417). Anything you can do to help untangle the errors will be appreciated.
I am hoping you would consent to transfer Herman Wilhelms #144363872 to me. He is my paternal great-grandfather. Verna Wilhelms #144363930 is his second wife (and thus not directly related to me) but I would be glad to take over her memorial as well, if allowed.
