I started getting interested. In genealogy five years ago. I use Ancestry. And FaG. |
We have learned that walking the cemeteries and taking photos are more accurate for adding data
When we are on vacations we find cemeteries in the area and take photos. It is interesting to see edits a year later that someone has located their family.
Four years ago we started using Find a Grave and just was out there looking for relatives. It is not a numbers game for me. It found us roaming around in cemeteries trying to locate my ancestors. We have been doing many memorials of people in many cemeteries. If you see someone that is your relative please ask for a transfer. We mostly have been in cemeteries in Webster Co, Hopkins Co Ky Recently we have been doing many Posey Co Indiana Cemeteries. I hope we can make a difference for people interested in locating their family. We long ago decided that inputting names from a book from libraries or other sources are subject to inaccuracy. You have to do the actual walking in the cemeteries to confirm dates and names and families. We take managing memorials seriously. If you want the memorials, you tacitly accept the responsibility of editing them.

Linda, I was going through some old messages and not sure if I ever answered you about the Rook Cemetery in Maury County, Tennessee or not.
I was not able to find the Rook Cemetery when I went looking for it several years ago. The entries I entered there are taken from the last known survey made there.
None of the surveys of the cemetery I have found have ever mentioned any Fryer family entries.
|JOHN NEGLEY||edger corley|
hi,my name is john and I would like to ask a question on were edger is buried. my great grand mother is his wife; Bertie Bell Mc Cormick Drury. I thought they were buried together? let me know as I would like to copy the information and put it in my ancestory book,thanks.
|BJ Franks||RE: Simpson|
Sid's marker which you show is in the Masonic Cemetery next to his wife's Jamie Duncan Simpson's marker, which you show. I was not at his burial but I was at Jamie's and she is in the Masonic Cemetery. These markers were still in the Masonic Cemetery when I was there this past week. They were not Catholics. bjf

Would you mind if I copy any pictures to my family tree of this family? This is my husbands family. Thank you for your consideration.
Tonya Baker Spore
|AZLITE||Wesley Robinson Allen|
Thanks for the edit with Wesley's middle name. Thank you too for the nice picture of his headstone--from that I was able to add his birth date. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the offer, Linda. I noticed that you have a couple more of my ancestors in your records. I will offer suggested dates and name change corrections.
Unless you absolutely want to get rid of them, I don't feel the need to have these memorials under my name. After reading Find-a-Grave's policies on transfers, I'm satisfied leaving them in your care. You did the work, you deserve the credit.
Thanks for all you do!

|Pete||RE: John wagner|
Well, it wasn't my entry to begin with, someone else created it 3-4 years ago, I just added a photo.
I'll update your entry with my photo and let yours be the one in my virtual cemetery from now on. I'll pass on your info to the creator of the other entry.
Thanks for getting back with me so quickly and with the right answer!
