Roslyn Bernice Schaefer

Born in Belleville IL from a long line of early French and German immigrants. A graduate of Miss Hickey's School for Secretaries in St. Louis. In 1950 she met her future husband at West Haven swimming pool in Belleville. Moving west in 1959 Roslyn worked for 20 years with the local (Fallbrook CA) School District retiring as Executive Secretary to the Superintendent. She was well liked by all and very devoted to the children. She later ran and was elected to the School Board. She was and still is engaged with numerous local civic activities. Named after Bernice Poirot. Roslyn was the mother and grandmother everyone wished for.

Some famous cousins;

John Nicholas Isch 1864-1951 he came west and was one of the early settlers and postmaster of Laguna Beach CA. He built a building on the beach which is still in use.

Catherina Isch 1851-1931 she and her husband Joseph Yoch 1844-1926 came west and built the first hotel in Laguna Beach.

Michael Pfeiffer 1832-1917 with his wife Barbara Laquet 1843-1926 came west by wagon train to Big Sur California. California's Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is named in their honor.

Severin Andrew Poirot 1844-1931 married Susanna Gundlach 1856-1926 and Susanna's father designed the famous Gundlach Grain Drill. Severin was responsible for their widely successful sales program.

A Mayflower descendent with numerous other ancestors arriving with the Winthrop Fleet. Thirteen Minuteman ancestors from Privates fighting at Bunker Hill to a Colonel commanding a regiment at New York, Trenton and Princeton under General Washington.

A Registered Professional Engineer, State of Massachusetts. Joined the Naval Reserve 1947-1949, then in July 1949 joined the USAF. Served in the Korean War (1951-1952) with the 45th Tac Recon Squadron at Kimpo Air Force Base. Later taught electronics in the Air Force Officer Communications School, Scott AFB in Belleville Illinois. Worked for Cruft Laboratory, Harvard University as a design engineer on the submarine program and traveled the world establishing radio monitoring stations for underwater communications. Joined North American Aviation in 1959. Designed equipment for the McDonald F-4 aircraft. Was project manager on the first air launched cruise missile program. Married Roslyn Schaefer of Belleville IL 1951, three sons.
