|I started getting interested. In genealogy five years ago. I use Ancestry. And FaG. |
We have learned that walking the cemeteries and taking photos are more accurate for adding data
When we are on vacations we find cemeteries in the area and take photos. It is interesting to see edits a year later that someone has located their family.
Four years ago we started using Find a Grave and just was out there looking for relatives. It is not a numbers game for me. It found us roaming around in cemeteries trying to locate my ancestors. We have been doing many memorials of people in many cemeteries. If you see someone that is your relative please ask for a transfer. We mostly have been in cemeteries in Webster Co, Hopkins Co Ky Recently we have been doing many Posey Co Indiana Cemeteries. I hope we can make a difference for people interested in locating their family. We long ago decided that inputting names from a book from libraries or other sources are subject to inaccuracy. You have to do the actual walking in the cemeteries to confirm dates and names and families. We take managing memorials seriously. If you want the memorials, you tacitly accept the responsibility of editing them.

Thank you the transfer. Have a few postcards, and photo of the someplace.
|Mrs Donna Schauss||RE: Riggle|
I finally got there during a.m. sun on front of stones. Getting ready to work with the pics I took today. I'll be deleting the temporary one on the mem pg (believe I have it on another Riggle also.)
Lieut Robert Richard Mudge - Yes, this is a duplicate and I will take care of it.
Lieut Mudge is buried beneath the Dade Pyramids at St. Augustine with the rest of those who died with Major Dade. Again, the photos I added are of the Place of Death, NOT burial place. The photos are of the marker showing where Lieut Mudge fell on the battlefield.
His place of death was at Dade Battlefield (site of Dade's Massacre) in Bushnell, Florida.His place of burial is at St. Augustine National Cemetery.

PVT Melvin, John - died at Fort King November 15, 1840; killed by accidental discharge of a comrade's musket on service.
According to the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs Database, PVT Melvin is interred under the Dade Pyramids at St. Augustine National Cemetery.
The photos are NOT from St. Augustine. The photos are of his place of death at Fort King in Ocala, Florida. Many of the soldiers who died at Fort King during the 2nd Seminole War were re-interred at St. Augustine.
I hope this clears up any confusion regarding the photos added here.

|Memory Keeper||Duplicated memorial page|
Thank you for letting me know about the duplicate page that was created for Catherine Hayes #106034198. I wonder how you found a duplicate page for Kay.
I wrote to the contributor to see if they were a family member.
Thank you for the contributions you make to Find A Grave.

Hi just like to say thank you for the photographs of my brothers grave in St Augustine national cemetery I have only 2photographs of his grave,these the only ones my parents ever saw. I was only 7 years old when my brother was killed flying a corsair aircraft whilst under going fighter training. The accident in which he was killed happened days before the end of WW2. My brother was only in the USA for a short time but he loved the people and country made some good friends who took in a young man, many miles from home . Some of whom wrote to my parents for many years. My only memory of him was just befor he left England in 1944 it is lovely to know he is in such a well kept lovely place which he loved . Many thanks
Thanks for your help in giving Fountain a story and a family rather than just a plot with a headstone with his name misspelled. :o)
