It is a distant connection. His mother-in-law and probable step-mother were both very distant aunts. I am investigating this line for the Western Massachusetts in 1790 project.

No Rhoades in those locations. Rhodes, Rhoades and even Rhoads are extremely common surnames. Mine started out in Blair Co., PA, and sons moved west to the Dayton and Canton, OH areas before they headed into Indiana and eventually west of there.

RE: Wm. L. Miller
Thank you very much for the great reply. What little I have found on Wm Lewis Miller (1920 census had his middle name) parallels your info. Ha apparently was born Aug. 1841 in PA. He lived in St. Paul, Adams Twp., Decatur Co., IN, virtually his entire life (1880-1920 censuses). He married Elizabeth in ca 1869, and she died 1900-10.
Though I cannot directly prove the parentage of Elizabeth, she was born in Ohio, and I believe in Jackson Twp., Montgomery Co., OH, to Jacob T. (J.T.) Roades (b. PA) and Sara Slifer. They had a daughter Elizabeth born ca 1847 and is in the 1850-60 censuses living at home. She disappears and is not in the 1870 census, dead or married. I believe she he3aded for Decatur Co. to find a man as she had relatives who were in that area.
As for no tombstone, I have encountered situations where the deceased had little or no
$$, so the wife was buried with no stone. He got a government veterans head stone w/o dates.

Wm. L. Miller
Don't know if you or another person tied Elizabeth Rhodes (#83818997) as his wife. Note she was born 1864 which would be VERY unusual for a man who served in the Civil War. Could it be another Elizabeth Rhodes born ca. 1847 in Ohio? In 1900 and 1910 W. L. Miller was in Decatur Co. with wife Elizabeth (Rhodes) born in 1847.

Pattie, I maintain records for Oak Forest Cemetery and saw this listing in Find A Grave -- why do you think Amanda is buried here?
