NOTE: I have been given management of work created by dee (inactive) for the Klein Memorial Cemeteries. Contact me with any edits. |
Researching and documenting my family history is one of the most important works of my life. While looking for my family - I photo cemeteries to be able to help others. I feel everyone should know as much about their ancestors as possible. Through my research I have been able to spend quality time with my sister, Janet Bertram and my mother, Norma Davidson Bertram.(Mother passed away on April 6, 2013 and we really miss her helping). We travel the great state of Texas visiting ancestors graves and photo documenting as much as possible. Findagrave is a wonderful place that has brought lots of people into my life I would never have known otherwise. I like filling photo requests when possible. We need to all keep up the good work. Thanks to all who are working so hard.
After experiencing a vulgar language email from an East Texas Grandma after denying a transfer request - I find it necessay to add the following statement. Find a Grave has guidelines for this site. I will follow those guidelines from this point on. "Transfer requests must follow Find A Grave guidelines. Be specific on your relationship. Must be the four generations as listed in the rules. I will make corrections, additions, & family links when asked. Use the Edit tab, then the Suggest A Correction option & include your email address."
My photos may be used for family trees, but please ask first. I have found many of my photos on a Find A Grave members Ancestry.com file with no credit or permission being given. Please read the rules for photo use in the Find A Grave help. Many hours are spent taking photos and the photographer should be given credit.
I recently became manager of memorials created by Charlie Crocker in East Texas. Please send edits and corrections to me for updating.
NEW FINDAGRAVE FEATURE
"FindaGrave has added a new editing function to all members. Check the 'Edit' tab on your profile page for pending edit requests for your memorials."
You currently have one or more such edit requests on your profile page. Most edit requests are no longer sent from FindaGrave with an email notice to the memorial creator/current manager. You have to go to your profile page and check the Edit tab to see the requests for additions or changes to your memorials.
Please check your profile page so that the requested edits can be processed. FindaGrave has made this change to facilitate rapid handling of multiple edit requests.

Thanks for clarifying. I did send a message to the person who created the memorial for Garland Ray Whitaker, and she is working on making the correction. I will send requests for more edits as I notice the errors. Where do you fit in the family tree? My ancestry information doesn't include any Bertrams or Meiers. Just curious what I'm missing.

Interesting that you say you will not relinquish the memorials because they are in your family tree. Well, they are in my family tree, too, and in my earlier post you said that you did not create the memorial for Major Whitaker. However, when I look at his memorial this is what I see.

Major was my grandfather, and I resent having someone who knows nothing about the family managing our information just because somewhere down the line you claim they are part of your family tree. Please reconsider my request to be allowed to manage my family.

Hello, again. I notice that almost all of the memorials for the Whitakers who are related to Major Lewis and Vera Whitaker show that you created the item. I respectfully request that you allow me to take responsibility for these records, as I have accurate information about the family. If you require a list of the ones I would like to manage, please advise.

The Find-a-Grave guidelines are just that, guidelines. You could be kind enough to let a descendant take ownership to make editing easier even if the relationship is more distant than those laid out in the guidelines. You can still work to improve and preserve the cemetery without owning all of the Find-a-Grave memorials for graves in the cemetery. Your concern and efforts are appreciated.

Hi. Yes, I have been there a number of times. I was the one who had the "Citizen" markers placed there. I was going to have John's grave repaired at one point but did not have the funds and we later moved from the area. The land owner was friendly to improvement, but would not do it himself. He was willing to maintain it properly though, at the time at least.
I would like to significantly improve the memorials and would appreciate you reconsidering a transfer. They were there in the Republic days and I am wanting to put a lot of information about them in the memorials (even his name is incorrect - it is John N. Womack, Jr.).
You can visit my genealogy website to see the information about them:

I am not sure which Mosby you are asking me to remove information from. I updated over 12 Mosby relatives yesterday and have many more to go.
I probably ask permission to manage the memorial specifically to update the obituary for lack of information known at the time the memorial was created and was denied.
Therefore, I suggested known relevant information to be added to the memorial that was and / or not noted.
Thank you! I

|Scott Mollett||Edith Stewart Whitaker|
Hello Mrs. Meier. I've noticed you added the information on findagrave.com for Edith Stewart Whitaker. Edith was my great grandmother, and I'm trying to find a reliable source for her maiden name. Verbal sources in my family tell me her maiden name was Steward, not Stewart. Can you point me in the direction of the source you found her maiden name as Stewart?
My apologies, I am new to Find A Grave. I did not know about the edit page. Thanks for showing me!
