...I feel strongly that when I add someone's memorial, that I attempt to find out who the person was, and link their family members together.
I do this by searching for death notices, ancestry records, newspaper stories, etc. I feel that these dead are not singular -- they had families and loved ones that need our respect by doing some research and not just adding a cemetery record showing a name/death date.
There is so much more to every person, and I love being able to add to their life story, and in turn, hopefully help one of their descendants find out more about their actual life....

PEOPLE FACTS: As I am an avid user of Ancestry.com & FamilySearch.org, and building out my entire family tree, I love to connect others with informative tidbits about their family.
✿⊱╮✿⊱╮✿⊱╮✿⊱╮ ✿⊱╮✿⊱╮
I often find interesting newspaper stories about families and love to include those tidbits for other people to discover.

(as of Jan 2019, the FAG "Help" section sub-titled 'Creating Memorials' documents this re: obituaries:
"Q: Can I add a memorial from a newspaper obituary or other 3rd party source?
A: Find A Grave does not discourage the legitimate indexing of the deceased through obituaries or other 3rd party accounts. Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. We ask that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased. Find A Grave takes no position on the appropriate timing of submitting such indexes. "

1) TRANSFERS: If I have added a memorial and you are related and/or know the person and can add life/color to the memorial, I am GLAD to transfer to you, regardless of the recommendations set forth re: 4-generation. If you can add to a memorial for someone you have researched or are related to, just ask me for a Transfer -- happy to comply!

2) PHOTOS: If I have photos, you all have permission to re-use them - but if copying my direct, PERSONAL family photographs and family headstones from my family memorials, PLEASE credit those to me from Find-a-Grave (ie: if you post them somehow on an Ancestry.com tree or something)

3) NOT IN THIS TO HOARD: As evidenced by my 'low' number count, I am not in this to add THOUSANDS of memorials with just a name/date/cemetery/headstone photo. I am in it for the genealogy and value of having information made available to family members that adds more to their ancestors than just the "Dash" between the years.

4) DISCOVERIES: I love being able to shed some tidbit of information for ancestor research and having someone piece together & connect-the-dots while they are researching their tree. I love being able to 'pay it forward'.

The Strangers In The Box

Come, look with me inside this drawer
In this box I've often seen
At the pictures, black and white
Faces proud, still and serene.

I wish I knew the people
These strangers in the box
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among the socks.

I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.

If only someone would have taken time,
To tell who, what, and when,
Those faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.

Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away.

Make time to save your pictures
Seize the opportunity when it knocks
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

Ancestors

If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them, perhaps,
You wouldn't care to know.

But, here's another question,
Which requires a different view -

If you could meet your ancestors,
Would they be proud of YOU?
