ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!

Please read my bio information before messaging or emailing me. Your question may be answered. Thanks!

I was born in Statesboro, Georgia, Bulloch County at BMH to Gibson Denmark Waters,Sr and Gladys Hagins Waters. I live in Augusta, Georgia.

I welcome edits and additional info for my memorials. I do not require source of info for edits. If you see a mistake I've made, don't hesitate to notify me. I'm human and getting older, so I make mistakes. If you Email me or send me a message and I don't respond in a timely manner, please resend. I get so many Emails sometimes important Emails get "lost". Preferably, send me a message through Find-a-Grave. Also, if you message/Email me please have your ability to receive messages and replies turned ON in your Find-a-Grave settings.

If I have made a duplicate memorial, please don't message or Email me, please click on the Edit tab, then under the pictures or where pictures would be (Left side of the page)click on "report duplicate" tab. Find-a-Grave will figure out which memorial to merge into which.

I will be glad to transfer any memorials that are not related to me or are my close friends. I don't care how distant the relationship is to you. I'm not a big stickler about the Find-a-Grave transfer rules. I think we all should be generous in making transfers if we request/expect people to transfer memorials to us.

When requesting transfers, please include your member number and the memorial number you want transferred.

When I transfer a memorial, I ask that you not remove information from the memorial; only add to it. The memorial tells the deceased's life story and family history. Find-a-Grave memorials are a great source of genealogical information.

There has been some discussion on Find-a-Grave about listing living relatives. I have NO problem listing living relatives. The funeral home and the newspaper obituaries have been made public knowledge with the family's permission.
Same goes for birth dates. Birth dates are listed in the obituaries and are on monuments placed by the family. So they are made public knowledge.
A little personal info. I was tracked down by an insurance company from my name being listed in my mother's obituary on Find-a-Grave. My mother had an old paid off burial insurance policy. I knew about it, but did not have any information, paperwork, or name of the company. If it had not been for my name being in the memorial, the insurance company would not have found me.

I will have already edited the obit to read in past tense.

If you add pictures to my memorials, which I greatly appreciate, and no cemetery is listed, please enter an edit and add the cemetery. This usually happens after a memorial service or private burial where no cemetery is put in the obituary.

To me, content of memorials takes precedence over which memorial was entered first. If I have entered a memorial with full obituary, pictures of the deceased, pictures of the grave, links to family members...please don't ask me to delete mine just because you or someone entered a memorial with just a death date......
Also, please don't ask me to delete my detailed memorials when someone has entered "memorials" for people that have not yet died. To me it is in bad taste to create memorials for people that are still alive. Just because someone walked through a cemetery years earlier and wrote down names and birthdays from monuments of people yet to die, they don't overrule after death memorials.
As mentioned above, click on the "report duplicate" tab and Find-a-Grave will figure out which memorial to merge into which.

Finally, I work part time for Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Home as an assistant funeral director. As a service to the families we serve, I post our public obituaries to Find-a-Grave. This is something I do personally, not as an employee or representative of Thomas Poteet. So, I would greatly appreciate it if you would allow me to post the Thomas Poteet and Son obituaries to Find-a-Grave. I have been posting Thomas Poteet obituary memorials long before I started working there. As mentioned above, if these memorials are not my family or close friends, I will be glad to transfer them to you.

Thanks,
Bill
