I joined findagrave as a volunteer after using it to find my family. I have been a history buff since childhood and this is an extension of that as well as a way to pursue my love of photography. A couple of years ago on a trip to DC with my mom and dad. I went to Arlington Cemetery with my mom. It started to storm and my mom has trouble walking so I took her list of graves she wanted to find and took a speed trip walking quickly around the cemetery looking for graves and dodging rain. While tough and tiring especially in the heat and humidity, the excitement of finding someone I was looking for was well worth it. I get that same rush finding a grave for someone. Its a piece of their history as well. I am still looking for my own family in NC(Holcomb(e), Mastin, Poole, Mac(s)emore, Childress.
