The same groups settled in Wilkes & surrounding counties before that in 1770-80s. Many ancestors were farmers, teachers, physicians, ministers, and legislators in the local area. My families include Latimer, Cook, Moseley, Elliott, Gunter, Williamson, Buckalew, Colvin, Brown, Burson, Wright, McGoogan, Jennings, Routon, Morgan, Blue, Lasseter, Haisten, Gleaton, Crumbley, Bledsoe, Peel, Hull, Owen, Neal, Price, Maddox, Yarbrough, Hutcheson and Cloud.

My wife's family goes back five generations in Washington County, GA (Hartley, Lindsey, Bedingfield, Sheppard, Boatright, Peacock, Wiggins, Brantley, Bass, Lee) and Schley County, GA (Devane, Poole, Wall, Waters, Snipes, Holloway, Turner).
