I have been researching my families since 2000 which consist primarily of (paternal) Fortney, Groves & Summers and (maternal) Armstrong, Boylen & Fawley.|
The majority of memorials I have created are of my relatives. However, I have created some memorials for unrelated folks whose headstones I just happened to photograph while visiting a particular cemetery. If I have created a memorial that you'd like transferred to you, please send a note via normal channels under the 'Edit' tab of the memorial with a comment stating your relationship to that person.
Headstone Photos: permission is hereby given to relatives to use my headstone photos for their personal use. You can right click on a photo and select to Save to your computer.
If you are or think you are related to me, please contact me by email and/or visit my website.

|Bryan S. Godfrey||RE: Rosemary Bowers Dodd #44920585|
Thanks--I've been forgetting to reply. Yes, Mrs. Dodd authored several books, and I think Summers family was one of them. I was kin to her through the Browns and Tates of Virginia and the Marises of Pennsylvania. I met her and her husband in 1994 when she was staying in Williamsburg, VA doing research, and my last contact with her was in 2004 when I mailed her lots of newly found information on our Brown and Maris lines. Tragically, she lost her husband and son in 2003 within 2 weeks of one another, her son to MS at only 46 and husband to Alzheimer's; apparently both had rapid progressions of their diseases. I felt bad for reconnecting with her just a couple of months after that, when she told me all this during a phone call, but I hope my information gave her something to take her mind off her losses and that she still enjoyed her last seven years of life.
In regard to not having a website except what I put on Find A Grave, yes, I am looking for alternative websites to replace what I had on genealogy.com. I definitely got carried away with that website over a 14-year period, having over 50 files of descendant and ancestor reports and over 300 photos in the end. But I also became annoyed discovering several times that people had taken entire files on descendants of certain ancestors of mine and pasted them on their ancestry.com pages for those ancestors, whereas I like my work to be treated as controlled documents. Maybe there's something to be said for not making my material as easily available to the whole world and emailing such reports as attachments upon request.

I added Margaret Jane as a child of Elias and Rachel McClead in the bio. I see that you have requested edits to her memorial to correct the spelling of her name (?) and add her parental links. I created a memorial for her mother, Rachel, even though I do not know where she is buried. I visited Elias' grave but could not find Rachel's. I also posted a copy of Margaret's death certificate on ancestry.com.
I will have to look into the Nancy Winegar saga later ;) Thanks for your help.
|rondotswfl||RE: Elias McClead #70808763|
Whose death certificate are you referring to? I cannot confirm Elias and Rachel McClead as her parents. I see other people have her listed but nobody has citations to prove it. She is not listed in the 1880 census with them (she would be 17 so she could have moved out of the house but was not married until 1883) I cannot find a listing in the 1870 for this family. Either they were missed or the McClead name is so boggled that it's not showing up in the searches. Nobody seems to have it as a citation. There are also different birth places for her, i.e. Washington Co, OH and Ritchie Co, WV. Her family lived in both places so I'm not sure. I will keep digging and let you know what I find. Please do the same. Thanks!
Hey Del, I just stumbled onto your name on here. How are you doing?

|JMC||RE: Barker Cemeteries - Monongalia Co WV|
Yes, there are 2 different Barker cemeteries. They are only a few miles apart, both along the same road. I have an email from a distant relative who visited them that confirms this, but its buried deep in my files. Does that help?

|genieresearcher||Mary Emma Dent Hoskinson Calvert|
Hello Del, thanks for contact. No I am not related, however I ended up researching the family when I entered Silas Clark memorial, husband of Eveline Calvert. I always take pleasure in finding the parents, siblings and children and connecting them on findagrave which led me to Hoskinson. You know how that is, one person leads to another and never ends. Connected to Summers so I left the note. Couldn't find Josiah Hoskinson/Margaret Summers burials. If you have any missing pieces, perhaps I have found info in my search which would help. just let me know. thanks!
|Louis Ruf||RE: Hill Cemetery, Barbour Co, WV|
Sorry I just found this message. I visited the Hill Cemetery in 2001 and there was not much left. Most of the grave markers are gone but I found a few. The direction I wrote down were as follows: Take Rt 92 from Belington WV 4 mi to County Rt 40 turn right 1/3 mi to Dave Wilson farm before you get to Lambert Chapel Cemetery. The Hill Cem is on a hill on the left and cannot be seen from the road.
