I WILL NOT BE ON LINE FOR A GOOD WHILE AND THEN, WILL HAVE ONLY LIMITED ACCESS TO THE NET. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE FLOWERS/TOKENS YOU HAVE LEFT FOR MY FAMILY AND I'LL TRY DOING THE SAME THE BEST I CAN.
I was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and grew up just east of there in the small town of Murrysville. Through Army, college, and company transfers, I've retired to East Texas.
I was married to Janet Marie (Vogel) Hartley ,and have three children, Tim, Todd & Kari.
My genealogy interests are (Paternal): Hartley, Headlee(ey), Gass (my stone wall), Fordyce, Lemley, Shriver, Barrickman, Jones, Cunningham and Prickett. (Maternal): Green, Knox, Jackson, Scott (England), Heacox, Barton and Hawley.
I'm willing to take photos for anyone in and around the Tyler, Texas area. I would like to thank those that have taken photos for me. I've "met" some great friends that way.
Please email me with any additions and/or corrections and I'll gladly update.
Please note: Many thanks to Carolina Angel for sponsoring my wife's memorial page.
A very special thank you to my friend Diane Miller for sponsoring my great grandparents, Joseph & Margaret (Scott) Green and Albert Henry Knox. Please visit Diane's family.

|Tim||Mrs Virginia Hartley|
I saw that you left a message to Virginia Hartley, and that you are related to her husband Ralph. This is the message I left on her Find A Grave site:
I just found your gravesite, Virginia. I wish I had stayed in contact with you.
I hope a relative will read this so they know that she helped a stranger move his family farther back in history.
I wish to say a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Virginia Hartley. Over 30 years ago I wrote to her (snailmail of course!) about the Henderson relationship to my Vance family (My great grandfather Thomas Vance was Mary Henderson's brother. Virginia's husband Ralph and I are 3rd cousins, sharing James and Abigail Vance as 2nd great grandparents.
However, 30 years ago I could not prove Abigail was my 2nd great grandmother. It was Virginia Hartley who very generously sent me old newspaper clippings-- that she allowed me to keep-- that proved Abigail to be my great great grandmother.
Not only that, but she generously made a photo copy of David Henderson in his Civil War uniform. He died as a prisoner at the notorious Andersonville Prison.
Mrs. Hartley's generosity is a model of behavior for all genealogists. She went out of her way to help a stranger, who became a friend. She shared willingly so that my family's story could be further told.
God's peace be with you Mrs. Hartley and your family.

You are very welcome. My 90 year old father lives in the area. Taking photos gave us all something fun to do during the holidays in western Nebraska.

You're welcome. And you're right - you can't win them all. I know what you mean.

His marker was buried under a few inches of dirt and grass. I had to uncover it with a shovel.
