Isn't this a great ride we're on? Genealogy is such an interesting and rewarding hobby! I'm frequently amazed (and sometimes disturbed) as I learn more about the daily lives of my ancestors, and the hardships they faced as they immigrated to America and made their way west to Illinois and beyond. And, how DID they manage to raise such large families in the days before TV, washing machines and microwaves???

In addition to working my own family history, I'm on the Sidener Cemetery Board. I'm related to about three-fourths of the people buried in the cemetery! Sidener Cemetery is located in rural St Elmo, Fayette County, Illinois. Since being elected to the Board, I've mapped the cemetery for them, completed a cemetery survey book, finished photographing grave stones, and entered the remaining Sidener graves on FindaGrave. It's been a busy time! We're still looking for photos of people buried in Sidener Cemetery to post on their FindaGrave memorials and for information to help us add family links.

Feel free to use the information and cemetery photos I've added here in your family trees on other genealogy websites such as Ancestry.com or in your own family history records. There's no need to contact me directly for permission. Just indicate who provided the photo and that it is being used with permission.

I'm always happy to transfer memorials of any non-relatives that I've entered to their family members upon request. As they say, "Many hands make light the work." It's great to be a member of the Find A Grave community!
