Jim is the great-grandson of immigrants from No. Ireland, and was raised in Warminster PA, a suburb north of Philadelphia. He married Karen Stauffer of Horsham PA in 1979. In 1990 they moved to Dearborn County, Indiana, where they raise beef cattle. They have four children and four grandchildren.
