Note for 2014 - I have finished taking pictures at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau and placed them on the memorial pages. Some tombstones were not "readable" so 100% is impossible. New comment: As of October 2014 all of New Lorimier has been photographed. I am still working on updating and adding information. I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to John Hinkle who originated most of these cemetery memorial pages. He has done a tremendous service to our community. And thank you to Mr. Weaver at the city cemetery office for all his help. Without him, these pictures would not have been possible.
2015 - A big thanks to Mr. Jim Crites at the city cemetery office for providing pictures of burials at New Lorimier and Fairmount. He has been so helpful and it means a lot to those searching for their family.
Mr. Jim Crites passed away October 18, 2019 after being ill in the hospital for several days. We will miss him tremendously - he was such a supporter of find-a-grave and helped all of us who have worked on the city cemeteries. It was his idea to add GPS readings to all the memorial pages and often recorded them and took pictures of new grave stones that came in. He started another project of making sure all veterans had monuments and was supportive of all of them. Rest in peace Mr. Jim.
2017 Though I have slowed down a lot due to old age, several of us are attempting to photograph Old Lorimier. If you want to help, please contact me or the cemetery office.
August 2017 Well I got side tracked and took on the challenge of row walking St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape. It was so nice doing it and finished this week. It is at 99% now. If there are mistakes edits please let me know.
A big thank you goes out to Brenda Johnson of Cape. She is in the process of "row walking" Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery. What an undertaking!! With over 13,000 burials - it is now at 94% photographed. She inspired me to offer to help - so I just finished taking pictures of inside the mausoleum. We will also attempt to do the outside or "patio" graves.
2020- A big thank you goes out also to Tammy Brock who is now in charge of all three Cape City Cemeteries. She is so helpful for us volunteers at find-a-grave and always finds the time to take pictures of new grave stones and keeps us informed on anything new that needs to be added to memorial pages. She has added signs to each cemetery that has a map showing how the different sections are numbered and where they are located. Being a retired school principal is a great background for making sure things are running smoothly. And she does this wonderfully. (She also loves to fish.)
