I've had a ongoing interest in recording our past and present for many years. I'm an avid researcher doing our genealogical history, and find searching cemeteries fascinating.

A headstone may be the last tangible remains of a loved one, proof that that person actually existed. I feel we're preserving these grave stones the best we can. By taking pictures and transcribing these headstones, we stop the progress of time, weather, and, most unfortunately, vandalism that sometimes makes a headstone illegible or missing.

So as you pass your way through a cemetery, consider an old Mexican saying about three deaths:
"First, there is the moment in which the body stops functioning.
Second, there is the time that the remains are consigned to the grave. Third, there is that moment, sometime in the future, in which the person's name is spoken for the last time.......Then the person is really gone."

As you read through the names on the grave stones, whisper their names aloud, so they will not be forgotten and will live on forever.

For most of my photos you can merely download them from the memorial page. If you have a problem, let me know, and I will try to fix it.

I invite anyone who wants to, please feel free to use any photos attached to any memorial. These photos are there for family of the deceased to remember, honor and respect. What better way than to share photos.

If you are a family member of a memorial that I have created, please request a transfer if you wish. My only request is that you please provide your Contributor ID number and the memorial ID. Finding you by name only can be difficult.

October 2023 finds me quite a bit older that when I first started photographing and documenting gravestones. In today's time I'm letting the younger, new "gravers" go out and take the photos and tell the stories. It's time for me to sit back and look at all that Find a Grave has become. What a history, what a story that so many have found. I hope that you continue to find your story and add to it as best you can. We need too keep the documentations coming. It's ever so important.
